xXBatum88Xx.....I'm not a fan of his as a starting guy on your squad. When he was starting next to Brandon Roy it was different...but next to Gallinari he's going to need to pull a lot more weight, both on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. I think he can rise to meet the road as they say on the offensive side, but on the defensive side, can he defend 2's as well as he defended 3's?

(I call him xXBatum88Xx because he chose his jersey by the year he was born..didn't know if I got that across)

I like the Kaveman (see what I did there? I put a K because his name is Kaman) in the middle, and I think the team will be able to move up and down the floor very well, especially with Jeff Green. Gallinari should not want for transition 3's.

Question: How much would Wes Matthews help out your team? I will accept the answer in the form of interpretive dance.

I welcome all critiques and promise to take them personally.

My first question, why trade Noah for Kaman? The move didn't seem necessary or obviously beneficial to me.

Though I am probably biased in favor of Noah.

EDIT- Or, what Who said.

KCattheStripe, why did you trade Joakim Noah for Chris Kaman?

I thought Noah was the better long term fit for the club. The younger of the two and healthier. The better individual player already due to his superior rebounding + defensive contributions.

Although, I do think Kaman has added value for how well he fits into this team. His scoring will help provide more floor balance offensively and I think he'll make Jeff Green more effective. But that is a short term fit for a team that is built for the future ...

What's your point

All I am saying is that players should be judged as players not athletes

Would you rather have a team of 12 Tony Allens or 12 Shane Battiers

Allen is unquestionably the better athlete relative to his position, you want a team of 12 Tony's or 12 Shanes

How about a team of 12 Glen Davis's or 12 Sean Williams

None of them.  I want to keep my GM job.

You want us to compare your team to Larry Bird.

But you are lead by a guy that was a joke the last time he was in NY (last season)

You do not have the young talent the current Knick's team has.

I don't even know if you have the cap space next year the current Knicks have.

And we are suppose to buy this team as a playoff team?
Who said to compare my team to Larry Bird

I was using that analogy as a way to compare athletes versus players

Is that really what you got out of that

That's an absurd thing to get out of what I said

The current Knicks have young talent?
Who?
Lee? He's gone they will be renouncing him to sign free agents
Gallinari? He's 6'11" and so soft he has to play SG and he can't spell defense never mind play it
Chandler? He's okay
Hill? Please
Douglas? Lester Hudson has a better NBA future
Landry? You mean JR Giddens Jr

And who cares about cap flexibility or the future

This is a team for right now to compare in a hypothetical situation to see if you could build a team better than the team that is currently in place

Do I want you to believe that this team could win enough games to make the playoffs versus other teams being put together? I could care less

It's not a competition

I like my team

I think they could win 50 games

And I think they could make the playoffs in this format

If you are now saying you dont even care what other people think of our teams or how they would do versus the other teams in this league, why are you one of the more predominant posters on a 29 page thread debating whether your team is better and how they would do...? ???

I care what other posters think of my team, that was the whole point of this. It has been fun and I have kind of learned a very small piece of the kinds od decisions you gotta decide when putting an nba team together. I have by no means done a great job with my team. I initially just thought about getting the best valued player for my team rather then focusing on the fit and the time and point my team was at. Some posters pointed this out to me and I have made a few trades. Im still looking to do a few more. However, I am also not posting that my team is going to win 60 games. I would like to believe they are a contender because they have 4 very solid nba starters in Dalembert, Parker, Marion and Duncan that seem to fit. I also have some interesting pieces to get a better fit at sg. We will see how this goes. However, please don't take it personally if you tout your team strongly and someone disagrees....
How does saying they would win 50 games mean I am promoting them as being great or something

I think they could win 50 games

I said they might be able to make an ECF but it would be very difficult

But I also very jokingly said they were a top 4 team in the East....very jokingly

I never disagreed when people said they would be lucky to get out of the first round

I was also the one in this thread to say that any team expecting to win a championship should have a top 5 player in the league which my team clearly does not

Fair enough, 50 win teams are usualy title contenders so that was my line of thinking. If you see them losing in the first round, I could definitely see that happening this year and we are not so far apart.

KCattheStripe, why did you trade Joakim Noah for Chris Kaman?

Although, I do think Kaman has added value for how well he fits into this team. His scoring will help provide more floor balance offensively and I think he'll make Jeff Green more effective. But that is a short term fit for a team that is built for the future ...

A few reasons:

A) I felt I needed a low post option especially with Batum and Gallinari still figuring out how to create for themselves. Noah has a number of great attributes, but back to the basket moves are not his forte.

B) I thought I needed someone stronger to guard the bigger post players.

C) No one averages 20/9 by accident.

D) Salary. I am in the enviable position of having to spend MORE money so I can reach the league minimum.

E) I think Noah is slightly overrated on this board. his rebounding numbers are slightly inflated because no one else on his team boards.  And his defense is definitely overrated on this board.

In short, I thought the trade worked well for both teams.

P.S. One last thing about the ages. Kaman is 27, I know he looks like he's 37, but he's not. He's just now entering his prime and that prime could last for 5-7 years,  so his age wasn't even remotely a factor for me.

Good point. It's hard to keep that in mind with the small dance floor that is the bald spot on Kaman's head being featured so prominently in that picture, but he isn't really that old.

Tip of the cap, KC, that was a well made counter argument. I've even somewhat come around.

I demand you question my integrity or compare me to Larry Bird! That was far too reasoned a response for this thread.
