It's obvious the Celts have lost their swagger, and other teams no longer fear them. Players in their 20's rule now, and 4 of the C's top 6 players are 32 or over. Their biggest need right now is to get younger to stay competitive. I think it would be a good idea to alter the ratio of playing time so that their players in their 20's (collectively) play a majority of the minutes. It would improve the levels of energy, tenacity and endurance.
The 30 year olds would be in a better position to close out games.
I'm proposing to give 60% of the minutes to the guys in their 20's and 40% to those in their 30's. Here's how it might work:
There are 240 total minutes to divide up (5X48).
144 minutes (60%) goes to guys in their 20's.
96 minutes (40%) to guys in their 30's.
Possibilities, when at full strength and no trades:
32 Rondo 30 Pierce
26 Perk 24 Garnett
24 T. Allen 24 R. Allen
24 Davis 18 Wallace
24 Daniels
14 Williams
144 Total 96 Total
House and Scal get squeezed, and are on standby.
The starting line-up could be altered or remain the same. Substitutions would be made early and often. No two-platooning, just integrate the players so they get used to playing in whatever combo is out there.
Giving the bench guys 20 something minutes, instead of in the teens, would allow them to develop more consistency.
These are just rough parameters. (I had some time to kill this morning.)
