Seconded.  I think there are zero legs to this rumor.  Someone is just hoping that a major news outlet cites his or her blog with the "rumor".  I think it is total BS.

Yes, I don't believe writers with any credibility use the term "allegedly". The more credible way to fudge that you actually know something is to say "according to a source close to ____" or "according the league sources".

it also looks like they are regurgitating the rumor that the Celtics had discussions a month ago about Hinrich that was revealed a day or two ago

the stuff about Ray and Marquis seems like pure speculation (and I dismiss most Daniels talk because there's no way they are trading away a guy that took a discount to play for Boston to be on a contender - they'd kibosh any future attempts to sign guys like that)

I don't think the Hinrich and Ty Thomas trade helps the Celtics either. Not enough minutes for Thomas and I don't like Hinrich (or the non-shooting TA or Daniels) starting at SG.

The possible inclusion of John Salmons could make things interesting though. Still, likely more of lateral move versus improvement. Trading a better player + fit at SG for more depth (three quality rotation players).

Whether or not this trade makes the C's any better THIS YEAR (although I think it does), is not the only issue.  If the Celtics do not trade Ray Allen, then they lose the ability to get any talent for his roster spot, EVER.  Since they are over the cap, they cannot spend the $19MM that will be freeing up.  So, their only option will be to re-sign Ray.  Now, would you rather have Hinrich and Thomas next year and the year after, or a 36 year old Ray Allen.  Tyrus Thomas is also EXACTLY what the C's need.  Some athleticism to help spell KG, play some D, and help them to compete with the atheltic teams like ATL.

This is a GREAT trade, if it went down.

There have been rumblings about moving Hinrich for quite a while out here especially due to his salary.

However, the Bulls have been playing much better basketball lately and Hinrich is being valued a little more now.

I really think if the Bulls are going to try and do something, moving Hinrich will be as last resort.

I think they're gonna try to push Salmons/Thomas for a while and see what they can come up with.

Even though I don't believe there is anything to this rumor (I think at most, one GM threw something against the wall a while ago, and now writers are making much more of it than there is), I will say that this would be a very interesting deal for the C's.  

I have said that I don't like Hinrich as a starting SG, and that he makes too much money as a backup PG, and I stand by that.  However, in this deal, we are getting Salmons, who would fit in better as the starting SG, allowing Hinrich to come off the bench, and we also get Thomas, who I think is the key to the deal.  Even though he is a headcase (what was with that LSU team???), he would add a rebounding, and more importantly another guy (other than Scal) off the bench that can cover perimeter big men and bigger SF's.  He also is a RFA after this season, and I don't think the C's would resign him, but he would make a huge difference on this team.

Now, the question with this deal, and the thing that would likely submarine it, is the money.  I really do not see Danny (or Wyc) being willing to take on the salary in this deal. But if they are willing to pay for a legit roster upgrade, I think this deal is one of the better ones out there.

The other issue, is that I think the Bulls could get better value for that package elsewhere...particularly if they split it up into two deals.  I think they could get at least an expiring contract for Hinrich, and possibly a young player, from a team looking for a PG, and they could definitely get value for the Salmons/Thomas package.
