The Chicago Bullsand Boston Celtics have been allegedly had trade talks involving Ray Allen and Kirk Hinrich. A deal that would send Ray Allen and Marquis Daniels to the Bulls for Kirk Hinrich, John Salmons, and Tyrus Thomas would fill both teams needs.

The Celtics would get more weapons for this postseason. Hinrich and Salmons would provide a better defensive guard rotation and some extra players who can score the ball. However, Paul Pierce would be asked to hit more 3’s if this were the case. Tyrus Thomas would also provide the C’s with some much needed weak-side defensive help. Kevin Garnett is not even close to being the defensive presence he has been in the past. Thomas could give some crucial minutes off the bench for the Celtics, improving their team defense.

Meanwhile, the Bulls would have huge financial relief with Allen’s $18 million expiring contract. This trade would allow the Bulls to sign two free agents at maximum length deals this summer in free agency. Allen would also provide three point shooting that the Bulls have missed since Ben Gordon’s departure, and a veteran presence in the locker room.

This trade would have an instant impact on the Celtics and possibly a franchise-changing impact on the Bulls (in free agency). Of all the Ray Allen trade rumors thus far, this one may have the best chance to go through.

I don't know if the source is reliable or not, and it seems that the trade idea quoted in the article is more of a suggestion than a real trade proposed by Danny.

I just don't see the Celtics giving up Ray AND Marquis for Hinrich, Salmons and Thomas. What do you think? No legs to this rumor?

Once again, Hinrich would be a big addition to our team but only if we keep him on the bench... losing Ray for Hinrich wouldn't be a good move.

we don't get much younger w/ Salmons but we do get Tyrus to baby sit his LSU friend BBD and I don't like losing Daniels.

looks like a blog that I'm not familiar with

it also looks like they are regurgitating the rumor that the Celtics had discussions a month ago about Hinrich that was revealed a day or two ago

the stuff about Ray and Marquis seems like pure speculation (and I dismiss most Daniels talk because there's no way they are trading away a guy that took a discount to play for Boston to be on a contender - they'd kibosh any future attempts to sign guys like that)

A bad proposal.
I 'm not considering trading Ray at an east rival.
What about if we'r facing him in the first round of playoffs? It's possible.
I will trade Allen at the west conference, or at east only at the 76ers, for Iguodala.

anyway, Hinrich would be a good addition but only from the bench.
Salmons is almost finished, done.
Thomas really sucks. Only athleticism, but he never improves his skills. He's hated by chicago's fans.

Is there a good source out of Chicago?  (Sam Smith)

I rather not trade Daniels to receive salmons and try to instead trade Allen for Hinrich and Thomas. Maybe include Shelden Williams and/or Eddie House somehow into the mix if anything.

But basically Allen for Hinrich and Thomas has to be highly considered. Hinrich is a decent player and highly competitive plus we finally get some rebounding help with Thomas. It would be a treat to see Thomas and Big Baby Play together again just like in College.

I know the bulls would rather trade salmons + Hinrich for allen but i don't see danny pulling a trade unless thomas is involved. Maybe he needs to pitch to them that they have a good chance to steal bosh away via Free Market.

If we are going to take back that much salary for next year (15 mio) we might just as well trade for Igoudala+Dalembert or Martin+Nocioni...

Either team would expect alot more back than just Allen. What are the chances for them to get a big FA over the summer? Not likely

Plus Martin is playing really well lately

I like and can really only see Hinrich + Thomas or Rip Hamilton for Ray allen as deals likely to occur

I'd do both of those deals in a heart beat. I'd even take back Elton Brand to get Iggy.

I'm 50/50 on this proposal, though. We do need a back up PG, and Salmons had skill against us in the play offs. Tyrus does kind of suck, though.

This appears to be a classic case of a writer reading a rumor (which itself was questionable), and then turning it into a new article, making it seem like its a new, or substantiated rumor.  We will be seeing a lot of these in the next few weeks.

Allen for Hinrich is a wash, and so is Daniels for Salmons.

Therefore, according to this author "filling a need" for the Celtics constitutes getting a third undersized PF to fill the end of our bench.

This just doesn't make any sense.

I do like Hinrich, but I feel like we could get more. I would rather do Ray for Hinrich/Ty Thomas
