If we have a few more quarters like this, maybe we can put the "great gamethread debate of 2010" to rest.  ;D

  • It's not hard to work hard.
It's obvious that what the team needs is athleticism at the 2 spot. Ray is my favorite Celtic, but Tony is able to run the floor with Rondo better than Ray. I might be on board with Tony starting and Ray coming off the bench, if Tony can continue to play like this.

That's a big "if" when it comes to Tony.

But I have been thinking recently that Ray could be a great sixth man if the right opportunity was there.

I've seen it all:  Bennett Salvatore made a call in our favor, against Kobe of all players.

Yeah I'm having that sense of "woah, this is too good to be true" right now.  Offensive foul on Kobe?  When does THAT happen?

It says a lot about the last few weeks that right now I'm just bracing myself because I'm worried this is just the build up for an awful, awful let down.

Who's gonna start the "Start Tony, Ray is a 6th Man" thread???

Take that back....

Nobody and I mean NOBODY should think that just because he came off the bench and is playing good, doesn't mean he should be starting.

  • You say when......
you don't have to start to be a player...

Solves two problems. Puts Tony on the other team's best backcourt player and gives us offensive power off the bench.

I was agreeing...Ray can come in later...we need the runiing man...that is TA's new name

I agree. Rondo will have an athlete running the break with him, and we'll have a good defender at the 2 spot, plus Ray brings instant offense and stability to the bench.

Tony playing this well really makes you consider how amazing it would be if we could trade Ray for Andre Iguodala - who is basically a rich man's Tony Allen.

Exactly. TA is playing great, but he's too inconsistent to name a starter just yet.

TA = immense. The more I think about it, the more I think there is real merit to making him our starting two guard.

I'm a huge TA fan, but I wouldn't make that move -- unless Ray has really lost it (which I do not believe).  TA still gets a lot of grief for his mistakes.  At some point, we should just accept that his positives are outweighing his negatives.
