2 teams looking to shed salary; N.O. to find better offensive fits and the Bucks to start rebuilding with Jennings/Bogut without alienating their fan base...ur...what's left of their fan base.

This combines a few ideas that seem to keep recurring, trading Ray and bring back my man Posey.

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yg9mm83

We get:

Charlie Bell
Posey
Luke Ridnour
Kurt Thomas

N.O. gets:

Eddie House
Hakeem Warrick

Bucks get:

Ray Allen back
Shelden Williams
1st rd pick from us

Why we do it:  Bell is a step down from Ray, but does what we need (shoot very well, decent handle, perhaps better defensively, nice guy, decent contract).  We do it for depth:  Ridnour is a very solid PG, we know what Posey can do, and Thomas is a competent veteran big to throw at Howard and Bynum.  We get Ridnour's Bird rights.  Thomas walks after this year.

Why N.O. does it:  Eddie spreads the floor, Warrick can feast off lobs from Chris Paul, and they both expire this year.

Why Bucks do it:  Ray goes home to mentor the young team.  Salary relief for rebuilding.  Draft pick for rebuilding.

Our roster:

Rondo/Ridnour
Bell/Daniels/TA
Pierce/Posey
KG/BBD/Scal
Perk/Sheed/Thomas

I think we look much deeper, and I still like our starting 5.  I like bringing in Posey's intensity and Ridnour's passing and shooting off the bench.  I like the insurance from Thomas.  I like our wing depth.

I'm in no hurry to see Ray off, since I REALLY LOVE RAY ALLEN, but I think this is the sort of deal where we end up a better team than we are now.

Ummmmmmmmmm, why would we ever want Charlie Bell as a starter?

Charlie Bell is averaging 7.5 pts a game and shooting below 40% from the field.  Why would we want him?  Also, Posey has lost a step and he is nowhere near the player he was when he was here.  This trade makes us much worse.  Makes our starting 5 worse and just barely makes our bench a little better because of Ridnour, but the rest of the parts don't do anything for me.  If we were able to grab Ridnour as a 3rd guard I wouldn't be opposed to that.

Bell shoots mostly 3's.  He's shooting 37.4% from 3 this year.  That's pretty good.  Also, when on a better team, his efficiency would no doubt improve with us compared to the Bucks.  We need a shooter to start to spread the floor for Paul, otherwise, Daniels probably starts, but most likely Posey finishes either way.  We'd have a pretty good stable of wing players to use, depending on matchups (not that Doc reallyl 'gets' matchups).

Why Posey:  because Lebron tends to drive straight through people, using his size and strength.  Posey matches up well defensively there and against other SF's, and his 3pt shooting spreads the floor for Daniels, TA, and PP's drives.  He probably isn't as effective defensively against SG's anymore, but TA and Daniels would be better matchups there.  That doesn't mean he isn't valuable.  He's shown he can handle PF minutes, too, behind KG, and already knows the defense.  Let's face it, we miss his intensity.

Ridnour:  Could be a starter on most teams.  Moves Daniels to the proper position, and allows Doc to pull Rondo out for a little talk when needed.  Can shoot the lights out, spreading the floor for Daniels and TA.  Makes everyone better.  Very underrated.

I know we don't get any top-tier marquee names with a deal like this, so I don't expect many people to support it, but I affirm that it would make us a better team in a 48 minute game/9-man rotation.  No more Eddie House.  Scal is out of the rotation.  Potential great defensive second unit with TA/Daniels/Posey/Sheed, and with Ridnour moving the ball, the second unit would run up the score.  I don't think the first unit gets all that much worse, and there are more possible wing combo's.

I think we need to stop trying to find a LeBron stopper.  It's not going to happen.  If we're going to trade Ray Allen, we better get some athleticism back.  We can beat LeBron without a guy to lock him down because the C's play like a team.  I'm more worried about a team like the Hawks.  I know the season sweep doesn't mean anything, but they're legit.  I just don't know how comfortable I feel about making trades with Daniels coming back.  It would suck if he doesn't play well, but if he plays well this team could turn the corner and become the best team in the league REAL quick.

3 way with Bucks and Hornets...sounds painful.

I'm sorry, that wasn't too explicit, was it?

p.s. the trade is really bad

Celtics give up the best player, the best contract and a 1st round pick?

This is just a terrible trade.
