Rasheed Wallace Tech-BS
Howard going fouless in 3rd-BS
Kendrick Perkins 5 fouls-BS
At one point Orlando 33FT to Celtics 11FT-BS
Pierce got hacked 3-4times-BS
4 to 5 3sec violation-BS

...............................

Celtics Choked in 4th Q is no question. But its demoralizing to keep a team close the way Refs did in 2nd and 3rd Q is total BS.

Change -- the refs did not call an even game tonight, I agree, but the fourth quarter was pretty even in fouls and the Celtics had a 14 point lead with 11 minutes left after a 3-pointer by Eddie, and they totally blew the game.

A spade is a spade. Perk was targeted big time. Sheed yelling AND1 and gets a tech. It got ugly in 3rd.

While we're on cliches, there's a good one out there about excuses, too...

You are still ignoring the fact that the C's were up 14 with 11 minutes left in the fourth quarter. Also in the fourth quarter, Orlando was called for its 5th foul with almost 8 minutes left in the game, putting the Celts in the bonus, and the foul shots were pretty even that quarter. Plain and simple the Celts lost because they played poorly in the fourth quarter.

I think the OP is onto something. You ever notice how refs seem to show up in the third of nationally televised games?

Also notice how they treat different caliber players differently?

What about how they call the game differently at the end of a game (last two minutes)?

Yes the NBA is rigged for entertainment value.

The free throw discrepancy was pretty ridiculous, but that's just how the game is called these days.  It's tough to be a team built around playing physical defense when in big games that kind of defense ends up getting you in foul trouble more often than not (unless you're LeBron).

The bottom line is the free throws certainly hurt us but the Magic only made 14 more than we did.  We got destroyed on the boards and couldn't get the job done offensively or defensively down the stretch, so we lost.

lol come on. Yes the refs sucked as usual, but the Magic outplayed us in the 4th quarter, and that's why they won.

Its more entertaining to have close games. They'll keep it close. Instead of letting a team stretch lead, call 3sec on Celtics and lose a possession. And Magic goes and scores lead down to 8 instead of up 13 point. That was the same formula when Celtics lost to ATL not too long ago. Keep the game close.

How many times have you been on here to discuss this topic in games the Celtics have come back to win after facing large deficits?

Was this the case in Game 4 of the 2008 Finals?

Again, a a newbie to this forum, I may not have the desired experienced credibility, but it seems that the fre throw discrepancy is the least of the troubles in collapses that we're having.  We stop playing attacking basketball...far fewer attempts to penetrate, anemic board work (which is sub-par to begin with)...I don't want to bail out the team, but it's glaringly noticable that we settle for passive jump shooting and less than solid screens and picks (for fear of picking up the "Perk foul") when theres such a disparity

There's no doubt I don't find myself minding it so much when the Celtics are on the positive end of that kind of officiating.

On the other hand, I find it very frustrating when so many fouls are being called and either of the teams shoots more than 25 or so free throws.  When there are 50+ free throws taken in the game, it starts to feel less like a game and more like a free throw shooting exhibition.

I'd prefer the refs just let the teams play, as long it's not a hackfest and the fouls aren't so hard that there's a risk of injury.

I watch the NBA to see the players play, after all.  Indeed, tonight the main matchup was supposed to be Dwight Howard vs Kendrick Perkins but both players ended up sitting for a large portion of the game because of fouls.  Dwight Howard still got his star moments, mainly because he's the star so he gets the benefit of the doubt more often.

There was a 1 FT disparity in that game, so not likely.
