Pretty interesting stuff. I would love to have him be our 6th man on this team but wouldn't want to trade Ray for him. If we could maybe get into a 3 way deal that could swing us Hamilton and maybe an expiring contract for our expiring's that could be awesome but i could see him going out west to a team like phoenix.

His game has declined really sharply and he has a pretty hefty contract with a lot of years on it.

Dumar's move to extend Rip last year was a huge mistake, even bigger than his Ben Gordon and Charlie V. signings.

With the exception of his shot dropping, which appears over the last week and a half to be improving tremendously, statistically Hamilton is as good as he has been in most other years

I do have to admit I got rid of my League Pass so I haven't seen him play this year

But he is only 31 and has a championship pedigree and is a real good defender on the perimeter

I would do Ray for Rip and Prince though I doubt Danny would

I don't think Rip Hamilton has declined at all. He's still just as good as he was three or four years ago.

His overall efficiency and game seems to fallen off to me, but that could have been the injuries. He didn't look good when I've watched on league pass. But I will admit I haven't watched Detroit much the past two weeks.

His shooting has been bad this year, and that's his whole game.

I know that Hamilton and Prince have struggled the last few year, but I honestly believe that is because Billups is gone. If they are healthy by the trade deadline I would offer this trade.

Bos sends: Ray, Giddens , Walker or 1st rd pick
Det sends: Hamilton + Prince

I really think this strengthens our team. Rip may not have the 3pt shooting ability of Ray , but his game is so similar that I think he would fit in perfectly. Prince would be great off the bench. I really think Rondo could get their games back to where it was a few years ago.

His shooting has been bad this year, and that's his whole game.

Well he got off to a slow start because of injuries but he is shooting 42.5% for January and 44.1% over his last 4 games while averaging 20 PPG

Those numbers aren't that far off his career average

Has Prince been able to play effectively at all though?

But his 3-pt shooting has been terrible, and his TS% and eFG% are way off his career averages.

If you look at his splits he's still shooting very poorly in January, and his PER is 9. Rip depends on efficient shooting to make an impact on the game and he hasn't done that this year.

Picking him up for our expiring contracts would be nice. But a lot of money over the next few years. Might push us over the top. Good defender and a smart player.

I wouldn't do Ray for Rip and Prince; too much injury concern and Prince has really lost something recently.

I'd do our expirings for rip, but only if they gave us their first rounder becuase that's a bad contract for a guy like Ray. They'd never do that, so i guess i wouldn't deal.

That looks like a temporary problem to me. I think he'll continue to improve as the season goes on (only 17 games played due to injuries) and would improve further if he was getting better service from his teammates.

We'll see, still I wouldn't want to swap him for Ray at this point, we'd need to get an upgrade elsewhere to make it worth our while. Prince has completely fallen off with his overall game.

We don't need more injury issues!

To me, they'd need to throw in Stuckey too to justify us taking on Rip and Prince's salaries, but Ray, Scal, and JR for Rip, Prince, Stuckey works.  I suspect throwing in Stuckey would be a deal killer from Dumars perspective, but that's the price he'd have to pay to get cap relief if I were GMing.

Rip has an ugly contract, but he's pretty similar to Ray. Prince would surely be a help backing up Pierce, and Stuckey can backup up both the 1 and 2. Has zero chance of happening, but fun to play around anyway. They get cap relief and we get immediate help. The cost to them for the cap relief is giving up Stuckey.

I think the problems in Detroit are the result of a perfect storm: new players, new coach, injuries, and a mishmash of a roster.

I don't believe they've had their 9 best players all healthy at the same time, let alone gel.
