Kendrick Perkins + the expiring contracts of Tony, Scal and Eddie

for

Amare + minimum contract filler

Would work according to the trade machine.

Wow. I know Perk is good and helps us, but I would do this deal without thinking twice. But that's only if we get back Barbosa, Dudley or Dragic.

Why would Phoenix want Perk?  I can't think of anyone in the league who is a worse fit for that system than Perk.

I think a trade of Perk is certainly not out of the realm of possibility (although I think the summer is more likely), but Phoenix is not a team that would be interested, unless there was a third team involved.

I also don't think picking up Amare would make a ton of sense at this point, since it would be very difficult for us to resign him next season.

It's going to take more than Perkins and garbage to land Amare.  A lot more.

...sorry to interrupt but YES THAT PUTS THEM OVER THE TOP!

They are already better than us, this would give us NO chance against them if we make it that far.

We could give him Ray's money, right?  Ooh, could you imagine the Amare/Rondo combo?  Wow.

Well, in theory, Rondo is already getting half of Ray's money.

Basically, resigning Amare would increase the payroll dramatically next year, and push it well above where it is now.

And that isn't even discussing whether Amare would want to resign.  Would he want to either play Center, or come off the bench?  I certainly don't think so.

true about Rondo taking half of Ray's money.  Didn't even think of that.  I'm not saying Amare would want to come here, but it's nice to fantasize about it.  We would be deadly.  If I were Amare, I'd want to go to Chicago.  I thought the Bulls should have made a push for Amare for years.

I still think he could end up there.  One of the deals that makes the most sense at the deadline would be something like Brad Miller and Tyrus Thomas for Amare.

Funny that every time I read a trade regarding Ilgauskas going to another team there seems to be a stipulation that the other team buy out Ilgauskas so that he can return to the Cavs

Wow, Danny Ferry doesn't want it all, huh

"Let me trade you a big expiring contract at a position you need, send the Cavs and I your best player, then buy Z out so that he can return to the Cavs. Thank you."

So basically Cleveland will take your high salary superstar off your hand but doesn't want the other team to get anything in return except a minor prospect for an NBA star like Jamison or Amare

I find that rather pompous

If that is the way the Cavs think other teams will do business then the Celtics have to get involved trading Ray Allen and demanding after the trade that the other team buy out Ray so that he can return to the Celtics too

Great point.  I have been thinking this since I have seen the first rumblings out of Cleveland about a trade.  I feel the same way about L.A thinking they can land Bosh for chump change, it's like "you already got your big man in a cheap deal, that only happens once".

So pretending I am an arrogant P.O.S faker/cav fan here is my proposal.

Ray Allen for

Dwayne Wade

(Straight up of course, no draft picks, other talent etc.)

THEN ray get's bought out and comes back to us on the cheap.  Oh yeah, and that's a mandatory stipulation of the trade. ;)

If we're healthy, we're better than the Cavs.

If the Cavs get Amare then we are not better then them, no way.
