being 27-13 at the halfway point of the season meant you were exceeding expectations

getting a Celtic voted in as a starter at the All-Star Game was considered a near impossibility and would have been celebrated

thinking of trading away half our team was considered incredulous because we had so much great young talent

we wished we had a point guard that was considered the best point guard in the Eastern Conference worthy of a start in the All-Star game

winning 4 of 10 games would have been met with optimism and happiness

we as fans only dreamed of having the third best record in the league

the prospect of making the playoffs wasn't considered an automatic and happened once every once in a while

our benched didn't have former All-Stars on it

our head coaches and general managers were the same people

we went through a new head coach 6 times in 11 years and for good reason

we would have to sign guys to 10 day contracts and play them because they would instantly become one of the better players on the end of the bench

we made trades to improve our draft lottery potential and not our championship[ potential

we only dreamed of having the best starting five in all of basketball

we thought we would never get another anchor in the middle of our defense like Robert Parish ever again

***********************************************************************************

These are just some of the things I remember from a time in the not to distant past

Maybe you remember some stuff too and maybe you can share them with us all so that we can put what we currently have as a team in its proper perspective because in our not too distant future we could be saying stuff like "Remember when we used to be good and didn't realize just how good we as fans had things"

I remember when I was just happy with Pierce scoring 30 points let alone getting the W.
I remember getting called an idiot when I said that Big Al will be an All-star

Ah, yes, the good old days, when a successful season was considered finishing with the worst record in the NBA.

I'll go back as far as I can:

Remember when it was still the year of the big change?

Where we were still had to prove we would "gel together"?

When our expectations were still lower than what we actually got?

Remember when our goal was to win one championship in the "big three" era, and fans swore they'd be happy with that?

Remember when the Boston era hadn't won a championship since 1986, before winning six titles in a decade?

we traded Kenny Anderson and his expiring contract for this guy. :'(

Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

I remember Chief and his patented "Spin Move", lol....the haters would always say "he's traveling.".

He'd post up his foe, do a quick spin, take a dribble if needed and throw that thing down with one hand.

I remember Mchale, too...his many low-post jukes and upfakes and his Great Footwork around the rim...that man was awesome in the post.

I loved it when they played LA back in the day...Kevin would frustrate Worthy, even though Worthy was great as well.

Those freakishly long arms of his helped him a lot.
