I feel once we get him back a lot will fall into place. Celtics are just like the Lakers what happened when Gasol was injured for that stretch? Lakers were dropping games left and right AND NOW are looking at times dominant again. Well come around as well.

Im not saying Gasol is better than Kg or vice versa...just saying theyre equally as important to there teams kg even moreso. I think well start getting back to our winning ways within a week or so. I dont feel its panic time. Although we shouldnt be surprised if we drop at least one more game or 2 while everyone gets adjusted back.

Go C's keep the good vibes and be positive good things will start happening.

I agree but I do think that Gasol is vital as cog as anything for that Laker team to run efficiently.

KG is closer to being the Celtics Kobe then Gasol.

KG is the most important player on the Celtics.

yup i agree see the, kg moreso. but u guys know what im getting at he's a key piece and without him even the defending champs were dropping games. kg being even more important well you know what's expected. i think we should save the panic threads for about a month - sadly if the lazy unmotivated play continues count me in those threads.  :-X

I don't agree... I don't think you can compare a players importance on our team to a players importance on another team beacause our team is so much more focused on team basketball and does not have one dominant player like the Cavs, Lakers, or Magic...

If any thing Rondo is our most important player because we have not one to take his spot if he goes out but if we do get a backup player like Rondo (Hopefully Nate Rob.. In trade not giving up too much or he gets bought out and we sign him)... Then it is too tough to say who is more important in Rondo, KG, and Paul.

I agree.

To me, the Lakers starters are just absurd. One or two starters can go down and with Odom they can still dominate. Yea, their bench isn't great, but they don't seem to need the bench other than to just put a body on the floor.

We are different. I think each of our starters play a vital role and without it we are just not complete. Since the Lakers use triangle offense they are much more versatile with injuries.

If we can have KG back to full health for the playoffs we have a good shot of making the finals IMO.

Actually I don't think the Lakers have a better starting five than us I think we do... They have week spots like at the point guard position and aren't too great at the center position (they're not bad)... But I think it is that the other contenders in the Lakers, Cavs, and Magic teams games are so important around one player... Lakers and Cavs offense around Kobe and Lebron and Magic's defense around Dwight... And I think our team is more run as a team and as a whole starting unit and not just one player as much as those teams are.

Offensively their starters are way better. Defensively they are worse but they have a lot of size and length. But, you are definitely right about their weakness in the PG position. You saw how Houston tore them up last year because of Brooks' speed. A lot of times it comes down to the matchup problems.

Re: Lakers starters versus Celts, I think it is a wash. As for the center, I will take Bynum over Perk. Regarding Gasol and Garnett, I do not think he is as important to the Lakers as KG is to the Celts. However, I to think it is pretty impressive that he has missed 15 or more games this year and the Lakers are still 32-9.

I think a part of that is because of their schedule...Let's see how LA does over the next few weeks, since they are finally going on the road.

As for the thread - KG is more important to us than Gasol to LA.

They are both similar in their games..LA runs their offense through Gasol, just like we include KG in ours.

But KG took Minnesota a LOT farther than Gasol took Memphis. And both of their rosters had nearly the same level of talent, back in the day.

As just about every Celtic fan can agree - KG brings it, every night. The presence is most important.

Gasol is a very talented, top 5 PF, but you need more than that.
