Better question:  Did Doc ever have this team?  Not since the Highly Marketed 3 came together:  they were running the team.  Now, the vets don't have anything to prove...believe their own hype.

I remember Doc sitting Pierce down one game when he first came on board for not hustling.  We stunk then.  I don't think he has the nuts to do something like that now with a key player, even if desperately needed.

Nobody's in charge, folks.  Nobody.

When the starters start going down, always seems to be in the 3rd qtr, change the rotation.

Put Sheed in a guard position - take out Ray
Put BBD as Forward, in place of Sheed.

It seems so obvious.

30 points in the 2nd half ???  what the hell is going on with this team ??  problem is much deeper than garnett's injury.

i'll always remember larry bird saying when he quit coaching the pacers that it was his experience that players quit listening to the same coaching voice after 3 - 4 seasons.

the celts just look worn out. maybe the age and the relentless fight to be champions - especially the past two seasons have just taken their toll. when you don't get many easy wins, when every nite out takes a big effort, eventually it wears a team out mentally and emotionally.

this team has never been one that gets a lot of easy baskets. the celts have been grinders on offense and defense with these past three seasons and that will take it out of an older group like boston.

just gotta point for the playoffs and try to make a run ....... if not, at least we got another banner hung and it's time to shake up the team again.
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce

what the Celtics need now is someone to wake them up...
that man should be the coach but I highly doubt about Doc's ability to do so...

let me show you a video... I'm from Greece and this is my favorite team's coach at the press conference after A 20-PT WIN!! of course he doesnt speak english very well but I guess you can understand what he's saying... and you will understand why I post this video...

by the end of the season, this team, Panathinaikos had won the Euroleague, the Greek Cup and the Greek Championship...triple crown... ;)
"Life has so many hurdles. Some of them I've hopped over, some of them I've tripped over. The key is to get back up and finish the race."- Paul Pierce

And he did finish...

Danny has to make a trade NOW and shake things up.  What has Eddie done all year to help this team.  He has been terrible!!  Rasheed has clearly been a disappointment.  We need to shake things up very soon.  This team as currently constructed is NOT on the same level as the Cavs and the Lakers, period.  This team right now would lose a first-round series to the Bobcats or the Bulls, no question.

We are quickly becoming a laughingstock around the league.  What a lack of effort and passion!!

Where did PP go in the second half?  Did he think that game was only 24 minutes tonight?

We won't be the laughing stock in June 2010, my friend.

I just don't get it. You actually believe this team is just going to be able to turn it on when the playoffs come?

The Playoffs are a long way away ... the Celtics will recover their form, finish the regular season strongly, and head into the postseason with a full head of steam.

I really think that if this ship isn't back on course shortly, Doc's time as coach has to come to an end after this season.  This team has the talent to win it all but it's obvious it doesn't have the commitment to winning.  Doc's not getting the effort out of these players which his supposed strength as a coach is connecting with players.  Time to either get someone who will get them to play hard or get new players that will play hard.

Celtics History is rich with these examples...the new CelticsBlog Poster PLamb gave us an example after the Dallas game of the 1968-69 Celtics. Certainly educated me----anything beyond 1981 season I cannot recall. Too young.

With that being said, I certainly don't want to see Boston limp to a 48-34 record (1968-69), but guess what? If they do and still win a championship (like they did in 1968-1869) in June 2010, then will anyone here be upset?

what if they lose like 4 more games and then go on to win the championship?
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

doc was good in massaging the big 3's ego but has played them excessively to injure them. (pp and especially kg)

He is a bad coach given an average team. And even without kg we should be a very good team

Even though he is most to blame for our slump and forseeable future without another trophy i can't help but to also blame Danny for not resigning James Posey which was a gigantic loss for us. He was our "bench" and provided leadership (remember him hugging the big three before every crucial game?).

Also resigning guys like eddie house, tony allen and rasheed wallace are looking terrible.

If we don't win this year i'd get rid of doc and prob give danny one more chance to help us get back to winning or look towards rebuilding. It could be smart to package players like ray allen, tony allen, scal, house and see what kind of young asset you can get back via trade deadline

It can't be all Docs fault but of course he plays a part in this latest fiasco as well as the recent run of bad play.

You have to wonder what he is saying at halftime --it would stand to reason he refers to the C's recent 3rd quarter struggles and the need to come out with intensity.  However it isn't working as the C's come out most every night lately as a totally different team.

Paul Pierce is the Captain of this team so blame has to fall on his as well.  Doc, Paul and the guys sounded great after the Dallas loss but nothing changed ---- they came out tonight and did the exact same things.

It's obvious that it's not as easy as "playing harder" or whatever generic answer Doc or Pierce gives after games.  This team simply cannot play well for 48 minutes, it seems that 30 is the absolute limit.  They have been absolutely destroyed in the last 2 games after halftime.  Normally fatigue would be the accepted excuse but they just had a 3 days break and have only played 2 games in the last 6 days!   If this team that played so well without KG last year cannot now even play for more than one half without collapsing then something more serious is wrong and simply bringing back KG isn't going to fix things in the long term.

No

But how do you know?

How do you know he has, outside of personal opinion and over reaction to a 3 game slump?
