the thing is danny should have known the injury history of a guy like daniels...he has missed a ton of games each year...they put so much into daniels (PG. wing) that when he went down...the Cs bench got sunk...and i still have a hard time grasping the feeling that this team is ever going to be 100 percent healthy this season. i think there will be someone important who is always injured for this team. trade the spare parts for someone that can help.
Well, right now, their other top bench player is playing with the starters as well. Even though Wallace has some flaws, having him as a 6th man is huge, and would do wonders for this bench. Even without Daniels in there, a bench of House, Tony Allen, Glen Davis, and Rasheed Wallace is one of the best in the league. One of House, Tony Allen, Glen Davis, and Brian Scalabrine is not.
I disagree that House, TA and Baby represent one of the best benches in the league. Sheed is a good bench player. Daniels is a good bench player. But between their own health, RW's techs, and injuries to starters, they -- as you say -- don't constitute a bench. If 1 or 2 of our top 7 are going to be injured or out throughout the year, then 8-12 is our bench. And they're bad like they were last year.
This team dies when the second unit hits the floor. They can't score, can't defend. Dreaming of the Cs flipping some switch of productivity and health is not an appropriate way to chase a championship. Again like last year, the bench's flaws will lead to more minutes for tired starters, which will lead to exhaustion and injury.
I'm sure Ainge is exhausting our possibilities to improve the team, thankfully. If the Celtics can parley House, Scal and change or TA, Scal and change into a more legitimate offensive threat -- a player who can actually create his own shot -- they absolutely need to do it.
