I think Marc Spears has a lot of credibility; I think he'd only report something if a trusted source told him something.  That being said, sources have been known to be wrong, so who knows?
I think we likely offered a combination of Scal/Shelden/JR/Giddens and some picks for him. Basically trying to turn our non-playoff rotation guys into a more useful player.

I'm still not excited about adding Nate.

Not sure about that one. If we want Nate, we need to get rid of either House or Tony, because there wouldn't be any room for all those players. But I would like to see House gone if we acquire Nate, because having two short PGs would mean suicide, and House is also more valuable than Tony.

And nobody has said the Knicks rejected that offer. Maybe they're still contemplating, or trying to get a little more in return. Who knos.

I don't like the idea of trading either Tony/House.

We still need a shooter off the bench even with Nate. I trust Eddie more in that specialized role. And until we know Marquis will be healthy we need Tony to backup the 2/3 spots.

I say keep Tony, He could become a better defender and our backups would be perfect.

Nate for Rondo
TA For RA
Quisey for P2
Big Baby For KG
Sheed For Perkins

Heck you might be able to put that team on the floor and win a lot of ball games!

The most likely trade without a third team involved would be Nate Robinson and Landry for House and Shelden Williams and possibly a pick.

If the Celtics acquire Robinson then there is no need for House. You really can't play the two together.

I'd be willing to give up anyone on the bench, save Sheed. The only other guy that would be tough to let go is Tony Allen, but even though he plays solid defense, the bench needs a "go to" guy for offense. Several times the bench squad has been on the floor and had trouble scoring. Nate would be a nice relief.

I don't think it has any real legs.  I think it is the case of Danny throwing a lowball offer against the wall, and a reporter hearing about it.  I don't think these two teams match-up well enough to make this happen.

That's my initial inclination as well.

Thats what i am thinking as well. I mean nobody else has really caught wind of this and i doubt it happens. I am hoping very hard that it does but i have my doubts.

don't be fooled by tony allen. he's awful when you need him most. i'd be surprised if he gets much more than garbage time in the playoffs once marquis is back. is there a worse shooter at guard in the league? he makes rondo look like jimmy chitwood.
