I think the biggest issue with Ray right now, is certainly not his shooting form, but how often he gets to use his shooting form.
I dont think Ray Allen is getting enough touches. As a shooter who is a scorer, its important to get him touches and to keep him in a rhythm. He needs to get more easy buckets, especially at the start of the game and at the start of the 3rd quarter. He needs the ball in his hands a little more than he currently is.
Seems like the only time Ray gets a look is when he is running around dozens of screens. His offensive abilities are under-utilized, and they dont go to him consistently enough. He can do more than just run around screens, even at this stage off his career, and when all he does is get touches every once and a while, he cant establish a rhythm.
The most important thing for a shooter who is a scorer, is establishing a rhythm. I would like to see him get the ball in different places all around the floor, and not just off of wide screens, or after a dribble penetration-dish out.
If I was in Doc's position, I would make it a rule, that the first 4 shots of the game, go to Ray Allen, (obviously you wouldnt pass up a wide open layup, to honor the rule though). Because if you can get the best shooter in the League in a rhythm, or even into a zone, to start a game, then your starting off on the right track for the rest of the night.
In summarization:
Ray Allen needs more touches
Ray needs a variety of touches, not just him running off of screens
Ray needs to be the offensive focal point for the first 4 offensive possessions of a game.
