Doc: Give Bill Walker More PT

After last night's performance, albeit during garbage time, Bill Walker looks like he is ready to contribute. At a minimum, he should be getting the minutes that go to Giddens, who is just not productive on the floor, looks too tentative. Walker seems more sure of himself, and just seems to have a game more suited for the NBA.

If he's doing what he's supposed to do in practice, it can't hurt to try him out once in a while if we have a decent lead.  If he's going to play, now is the time since he'll be less likely to play when Daniels comes back.

You said it yourself in your post; "albeit garbage time".

He hit a nice jumper and made couple of nice dunks but it was against a team that clearly wasn't doing much at that juncture of the game.  Its also tough to show much defensively in garbage time. 

IMO, there really isn't much stock to take out of last night's Bill Walker performance other than some highlight reel material.

Bill Walker had a couple decent drives against a team that was not playing any defense at all.  But overall, he still looked slow and heavy, and did not show much on defense.

Lets also remember that he was playing PF last night.  If he can't get to the hoop on Kris Humphries, then he wouldn't even belong in the D-league, let alone the NBA.

Don't get me wrong, I still like Walker's potential if he can stay healthy.  I think he has a good understanding of the game and is a hard worker.  But nothing he showed me last night gave any indication he was ready to be an NBA player.

It's all about playing NBA-level defense.  I agree, I'd give him minutes over Giddens (since the Celts have already essentially cut ties with J.R.), but I don't expect to see him in the rotation any time soon.

Does anyone else see J.R. as mental midget much like Gerald when he's out there on the floor?  He looks jumpy and indecisive.  He seems terrified that he's going to make a mistake at any moment.  And basically, he just still doesn't seem like he can believe that he's in the NBA.  Is this just me?

When he is on the floor, when he is on the bench, when he is walking down the tunnel.  JR just seems like a spazz, and has no idea how to put his energy to good use.

I would use him to spell Pierce, and use TA to spell Ray or Rondo.

I'd love for Bill to get 10 or so minutes of real time in tonight's game to see if he can still produce, if he can it might be worth looking at him a little harder. Especially with Marquis out, and Tony being our only real backup for the two and three at this point in time.

He did look pretty decent out there, though. Garbage time against the Nets or not. 6 points in six minutes, a board or two and two back to back assists to JR for dunks. It wasn't the playoffs or anything, but I wouldn't call it completely meaningless.

Sometimes you don't know what a guy has until you actually see them in real game minutes (Including garbage thing.)
