I don't know if its just one guys speculation or if there are true rumblings...

Quote
Dallas has been mentioned prominently since Bosh is from there, and I’ve heard rumblings about the Celtics to try to begin to retool without going to the bottom like they did at the end of the Bird/McHale/Parish era. And since Danny Ainge, now GM, was part of that he may know best what happened when you let your stars play it out.

Do you think Danny has something up his sleeve or is this pure chatter to stir the pot?

Could Danny really think about trading either, say, Ray Allen and KG? To try and net Bosh and another?

I think its crazy talk, I'm just stirring up some discussion here.

No, nothing's happening trade wise with Boston. Only thing that's up DA's sleeve is air.

We wouldn't upset our chemistry with a major trade like this.

If Bosh comes here, we'll get to the playoffs, but won't get Banner 18.

DA's all about the Banners.

I think the idea would be to rebuild.

The team's chemistry would be of little importance since we wouldn't be in immediate title contention.

Whatever Danny decides I'm with it I guess.

If Ainge really wanted Ray after this year, he would've given him an extension last summer. Bosh+KG=greatness. How do you defend that. Then you bring Perk+Sheed off the bench, how do you defend that? But who starts at SG?

Outside of Rondo, Baby, & Perk I don't think we have anything to offer for Bosh. Garnett is untradeable, Ray has no value to the Raptors, and Pierce is out of the question. Trading away Rondo and/or Perk for a Bosh just doesn't make sense for this teams chances this year or in the future. Maybe by retool he means we are trying to get involved in whatever goes down.

I just don't see what Danny could pull out of his sleeve.

If Danny determines that this team can't compete for 18 (which is not really clear at this stage), he would not hesitate to pull the trigger fast on a major deal.  That is what happened to Toine as soon as he took over.

These "rumblings" might be emerging because, while I hope this is not the case, KG might be done. For anyone who cares, I made a thread on how I thought KG would be done for the season before the season started. Everyone laughed at me. Anyway, I think there is still a good chance for KG to come back, just speaking unfiltered--KungPowe style.

I doubt that's going to happen. While they are way over-cautious when it comes to KG and his injuries, this particular injury is not remotely the "career-ending" type. It actually responds best to stimulation of the tissues, meaning that it gets better by activity, and actually encourages playing time. The most recent word is ten days, and that's taking into account the C's overly-cautious attitude.

There is much more invested here than just money, and there are few combinations available that could improve our chances, if healthy, of getting deep into the playoffs or winning another championship. There's a long way left to go in the regular season, and I don't think Danny's going to roll dice this big given the current situation.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. If KG's going to continue to have knee problems for the rest of the short remainder of his career, it's important to look ahead to the Rondo era. We didn't sign Rondo to an extension so that we can have a great passing PG on a losing team. The Rondo signing was a move for the future of this franchise.

If Danny could actually pull of a KG for Bosh trade, he should do it. Yeah, we're all emotionally connected, and he's been great for us, but all good things eventually come to an end. The question is, do we want to continue to be dominant for years to come? If so, Danny HAS to look around for what keeps us competitive, but puts us in a place to STAY competitive for years to come.

Bosh is a beast. I'd rather get him if the opportunity presents itself than let the Lakers get him.

I can't see Toronto taking KG for Bosh.  doesn't make a lot of sense.  KG's now a consistant injury concern and is owed major money for another 2 years.  They certainly don't want to lose Bosh for nothing but they can do better than the current version of KG for Bosh.
Ray for Bosh makes more sense for them if they're looking to unload salary at the end of the year.  Not sure they're that desperate yet.

"Sam Smith" is synonymous with "I make stuff up".

If that wasn't already clear, the idea that we could trade for Bosh should confirm that this guy has no credibility.
