Saw this on another forum and thought it was intriguing, although a bit far-fetched. What do ya'll think?

Some rumor has it that pending a buyout, McGrady could come to Boston for the remainder of the season mostly because of his relationship with Doc Rivers.

Yes, Donnie or Tommy talked about it before the debacle of an Atlanta game.

No dice. Morey is against buyouts. And they'll probably find a good deal for him anyway.

Yeah, I don't think it will happen since Morey has made it clear he doesn't want to give McGrady a buyout.

However, I would be glad to get McGrady on the Celtics if he obtained a buyout but it's a pipe dream.

More than anything I bet it comes down to how much money McGrady will give up in the buyout, but either way to let him go before fully evaluating his trade value is silly.

Isn't there a possibility that McGrady's new team buys him out?

I think that's probably unlikely. Where would McGrady go? They're going to either send him for superior talent coming back, in which case said new team would probably need a ticket seller pretty badly.

Either that or a team that really wants him might go out and get him for his bird rights, but who anys Tmac that bad?

I'm surprised by all the positive posts so far.

I would also love to sign him if he was bought out.

He would be a beast coming off the bench and could play 1-3 if needed.

I admit, it's probably unlikely. Was trying to think of a team that's in dire financial straights that would trade for him for relief from some long-term contracts, and then also negotiate a buyout to save even more money.

New Orleans comes to mind, for instance.

Yeah, but with New Orleans stuggling so badly, and desperately needing to not completely alarm the fanbase, you have to think they'll let McGrady play out the season rather than save the 2-3milllion McGrady's buyout would allow.

I know Morey is against buyouts but that doesn't preclude a team trading for McGrady for cap space and then buying him out to save money. I could see Toronto looking to take back Landry, Scola, Lowry  and McGrady in a trade and then buying out T-Mac. I could also see a similar scenario in Miami if Miami fades in the next month where they would send Jermaine O'Neal and Dorrell Wright to the Rockets for McGrady and buy him out and with the savings from the trade and the buyout get under the luxury tax.

I wouldn't say that McGrady becoming a free agent via buyout at some point this year is an impossibility, and I understand that no one is. I actually think the chances of it happening are better than some think.

Toronto was one I was thinking of, given the uncertainty surrounding Bosh's situation. Scola would be a nice fit alongside Hedo and Bargs.

And McGrady would probably not be keen on returning to Toronto, would he? He's not the persona non grata there that Vince Carter is, but I was under the impression he left Toronto on bad terms.

cool video, it's relative for obvious reasons.
