Now if Lebron did the exact same thing as Gilbert tomorrow and there was video tape on the net to prove it...maybe. But I doubt it.

Chris Paul, Kobe, and Yao are in similar boats I think, but I think they're pretty much the only ones like that.

From everything I have heard from people who have had direct dealings with LeBron, he's actually a really nice guy with a very good head on his shoulders and has been that way since he was a kid. I doubt LeBron would do anything remotely this egregious to earn Stern's wrath.

For all his self love and ego on the court, Lebron just is not in the same boat as Arenas, Marbury, Telfair, West and others with dumb off the court mistakes to bring attention to themselves.

Lebron is seems very similar to Pierce in his self-love and ego, but he seems far more conscientious about his behavior than Pierce. Lebron isn't going to do a press conference with his head bandaged.

Yeah he'll just walk off the court and refuse to be a good sportsman and not shake hands when he's beaten. Yeah, I see a huge difference in their post game behavior after a tough loss at a young age.

right, now you don't see it. But paul pierce in his early twenties was a jackass. I loved him then, and i love him even more now because of the man he's become, but lets not act like he's always been the high class leader and individual he is now.

He was an immature player, cultivating in the embarrassing wrapped head incident, but as he grew in age and as a person he embraced his role as a leader of the team and face of the franchise, and is now one of the finest examples of an NBA vetran in the league, on and off the court.

but it wasn't always so, particularly when he was lebron's age. Paul himself doesn't engage in such revisionist history about that point in his career, and neither should we.

he's an NBA employee, the NBA can suspend someone for as long as they want. It's no different than if an employee at your work had brought a gun in and pulled it on a co-worker. The union may make noise, and perhaps they will have to pay Gilbert during his time off if the union wins, but in no way, shape, or form can the NBA be forced to let Gilbert play on one of it's teams.



And i think your dead wrong on lebron. i think people are underestimating how epically stupid gilbert was in making a giant joke of it and implying stern was a jackass on twitter AFTER he had given a writing statement saying how sorry he was and how aware he was of the seriousness of the situation.

If it had just been the incident, then it would have been a month. When you say in the press how sorry you are and then go on the court and fake shoot your teammates in front of 20,000 people and however many on TV and laugh your head off about it, your going to pay. hard.

add into that the comments about stern on his twitter, and gilbert is gone for a long, long time.
