On a similar note I used to name my basketballs when I was in HS and a little after. I had a "Larry" and a "Lew". Also had one named "Toine".

TP for just having a dog.

Rondo is a great name for a dog.
I've got 6.  Feeling generous with TP's? ;D

Winston: Pug
Ava: Pomeranian
Dash: Rat Terrier
Murphy: good old mixed breed mutt (looks mostly terrier)
Pip: Pug/Chihuahua mix
Sookie: mixed breed pup (mostly shepherd and chow mix)
All rescues.

My pic wholeheartedly approves!  ;)

Also, if you say "Rondooooooooo" in the right tone there's a chance he'll howl along with you.  So that name is an excellent choice in my opinion.

My dad and I have a history of naming our cats after NBA players (usually Celtics)...

I had Legend and Magic when I was really young... One was black and one was white.  Probably not a very PC approach to naming...  Oh well.

As a teen we had Chief and Hondo... a couple brothers.  Chief was very quiet and stoic.  Hondo was a nutball who never stopped running around and attacking things.  Made sense.   Then eventually we realized Chief was actually just sickly.  Poor kitten had to be put down.  Sad.  I also think Hondo might have some form of mental issues.  Their mother must have been a drinker.  My dad replaced Chief with some fat little beast he named "Sir Charles".

5 years ago my ex girlfriend insisted we get a kitten.  I told her I'd get one as long as it was a boy.  Female cats are prissy and a pain.   She agreed.  We went to visit her cousin who had a litter of kittens.  They set aside the three boys and I picked out the cutest.  I named that fella "Truth".   That was my boy...

Then a month later my buddy was over at the apartment and petting truth's belly.  Then out of nowhere he goes, "Dude... Truth has no balls"...   I says to him, "Come on man... kittens don't have balls"...  I inspected this issue further and discovered that Truth had ladybits.  Pretty traumatizing experience.  Poor guy clearly is deformed.  He's still my boy, though.

Already gave slam a TP for the dog love and now here's another for rescuing them.

Please people, if you want a dog, there are rescue organizations for just about every breed you might want or go to your local animal shelter or SPCA shelter and rescue a dog by adoption. Help to put these doggie factories and chain pet stores that buy their puppies from them out of business. It's cruel and inhumane what they do.

Rescue or adopt a dog! There are so so so many good ones out there just dying for a home and dying by being put down because they don't have a home!

It's a good thing you went with Rondo and not Rajon. Nobody would be able to pronounce ot correctly. He'd never know when he was being called.

I actually had thought of naming my next dog Rondo.  I really like the name for a small, energetic dog.  I already have two Bichon Frise (Grady and Bella) that are small and energetic.  I want another dog (a rescue, no more purebred) but don't have the room yet.

The dog is a small mixed breed with a fine, all black coat.  He is part Miniature Pinscher and part Chihuahua (we think). We got it from a shelter.  He is just about 10 lbs and should grow to about 15 lbs (they tell us).  And is he quick?  Man, I will tell you that the real Rondo has nothing on this dog.  He's got change of direction as well but not sure about his handles.
I guess it makes perfect sense then. In fact if you don't name him Rondo you'll be thinking it forever. you should probably just do it
Piece of wisdom acquired by experience?
No. Not a pet guy whatsoever

Thanks guys, much appreciated.  Couldn't agree more about going to a rescue agency or a pound to get pets rather than pet shops or breeders.  Too many pets in shelters that can use a good home.

As it is, my wife and I are looking to foster Sookie's mother who's still at the shelter after a year.

We've got 12 cats (all rescues too) to go with the dogs.

As crazy as some friends and family think we are, the menagerie is still far easier to control (and much less expensive) than a single kid.  Best part is there's no diapers and not having to worry about sending them to college!  ;D
