5 for 4

Boston Trades:
Ray Allen - 19.7 mil expiring
Rajon Rondo - 2.6 mil this year (I think his actual trade value = 9.7 mil, because of his extension and the poison pill provision)
Brian Scalabrine = 3.4 mil expiring
Tony Allen = 2.5 mil expiring

New Orleans Trades:
Chris Paul = 13.5 mil (4 more years)
Peja Stojakovic = 14.2 mil (2 more years)
James Posey = 6 mil (3 more years)
Ike Diagu (filler)
Sean Marks (filler)

Dunno... just tried it for the heck of it on ESPN Trade machine with some trade exception and it seemed to work.

*shrug*

I think that saves the Hornets something like 9 million this year... and something like 27.4 million next year if they let Ray walk... plus whatever luxury tax savings they would get.  And Rondo is a nice consolation prize for not going bankrupt.

I'm sure if you REALLY wanted to get creative, you could let them hold onto Peja (he only has one more year left) and take back Okafor (who has a ridiculous 5 years and 62.5 million left on his deal).  Here's what I'm saying.... theoretically if the Hornets were willing to buy out Ray Allen (to let him rejoin the Celtics), do you do a trade where the Celtics give up Ray, Rondo, Perk + expiring deals for CP, Okafor, Posey, another bad contract like Songalia and filler?

7 for 6 trade

Boston Trades:

Ray (expiring)
Rondo
Perk
Scal (expiring)
Tony (expiring)
Giddens (expiring)

New Orleans Trades:
Chris Paul
Emeka Okafor (bad deal)
James Posey (bad deal)
Peterson (bad deal)
Songalia (bad deal)
Diagu (filler)
Marks (filler)

Boston trades: Ray Allen
               Scal
               Ta

Wizards Trade: Butler
               Jamison

Why for boston. Thats obvious, we get younger and we get two all stars and could even flip Jamison inn another trade. Also Butler's contract is reasonable, as well as Jamison's. Butler has 1 year after this remaining time wise and Jamison has two.

Why for Washington? They get a ton of money in expiring contracts and the rest of the season with Ray.
L.A. Clippers

The idea of the thread is to take back one more guy than you give away.  We have a free roster spot.

Scal, Sheldon and Eddie and $2 million to New Orleans

Darius Songalia, Julian Wright, Devin Brown and Darren Collison to Boston

New Orleans cuts $1.8 million off their payroll and can use the $2 million to buy out players to further cut their payroll. All the players coming into the Celtics will expire the following year and the Celtics get a good young PG to develop as a backup for Rondo, a good prospect at SF in Wright, an upgrade at PF in Songalia, and a three point shooting SG with size that can actually make three pointers

Agreed. If a title contender makes a trade for the future and has to put lottery protection on the outgoing draft pick that says a lot about the trade.

yep, like this one, Nick. I'm not thrilled with the loss of Eddie (TA?), but the point is right --- taking advantage of a team that's clearly intent on giving up talent for $$$.

This is certainly speculative.  Boston gets: Troy Murphy
                                             Roy Hibbert

                                Indiana gets: K Perkins
                                              G Davis
                                              B Scalabrini
                                              S Williams
I like Perk and Davis, but this might be a good trade for now and future.

completely agree Nick.  That trade looks like a good one for both teams and isn't too much of a stretch.  TP for the first trade I've seen posted that's sensible and within reason.

Have you guys lost it? everyone wants to trade Ray Alen! are you kidding me? this is the best shooter in the league! besides that hes a clutch player! if he scores 0 points the entire game he can take the last shot and make it! you dont trade someone like that for anything i dont care what whoever gives us!

If the Celtics wanna make a huge move they can get Maggettie without giving up any star player on the team! so why the heck would they even consider trading Ray?

This team needs a sparking 6th man! thats it if we can get maggetie thats fine if not there are some good players we can pick up!

Nick Young, Jerryd Bayless, John Salmons, Earl Watson, Dooling, Marco Bellineli, Ramon Sessions, Ronnie Price, Sergio Rodriguez!!!!!!

Plz dont bring up Ray Allen's name in any trade its just dumb!

Daniels,KG,Pierce, and Rondo were hit by injuries and yet this team is 1 game away from the Lakers!! i do agree we need another ball handler/scorer coming off the bench but that doesnt need to be a superstar and dont worry abou the future this year's draft is deep and we might get a good player in the 1st round like Manny Harris or Dejuan Summers

Exactly (TP) ... Scal, TA, Giddens, Walker, Wiiliams - ALL expendable IMHO - Ray is NOT. One of the best three-point, jump and free-throw shooters of all time, and a core part of the Ubuntu chemistry that this team is built around ... not to mention one of the classiest, most humble guys in the NBA ... NO WAY! Keep Ray OFF the block.
