Decision Time on Hudson

Contracts become guaranteed next week. * I think it is January 10th.

You have to think they will keep Hudson if they believe they will do a 2 for 1 trade w/Scal/whoever, but Danny has liked the 15th spot flexibility in the past.

I'd prefer to keep him because I love his offense and defense. Still needs work on pg skills, but he got it upcourt on Marcus Banks and Banks' only skills I can remember are pressure defense in the backcourt and speed so that impressed me.

Players seem to like him and Rondo credits him with helping his game out in practice.

actually, if lue is brought on board i dont think it will be hudson he replaces. hudson is showing he can become a good back up pg for the celtics in the next year or so.

walker and giddens have not proven much aside from athleticism. it seems that the skills walker and giddens bring, and the shortcomings they also bring, make them less valuable to the celtics than hudson.

But that would cost the Celtics significantly more money than cutting Hudson. Is the difference between Hudson and them worth that to the C's?

And what would be the point?  So he can be the 4th little guy on the Celtics?

The difference is that Hudson is a scoring pg and Pruitt/Ray were scorers forced to play pg.

Hudson can play.  He may never find the open man but he can score and play defense.  He has a confidence that Allen Ray and Gabe Pruitt never had.  We had some discussion about Nate Robinson recently.  Hudson can do some Nate Robinson type scoring if he had a green light.  He'll never be a true pg but the guy can score.  He appears to be the best prospect out of the Giddens/Walker group.  And I'd rather play Hudson than Lue, who appeared to be washed up a couple years ago.

I like what I've seen from Hudson last night. It was just one game though so I won't get overly excited but he sure can score, he defends pretty well (and fights well through screens) and brings a lot of good energy.

I thought his passes were a little too "shaky", maybe due to nervosity. I think he deserves to stay on this roster and he deserves to get more playing time, especially during this period when our team is depleted.

Hudson is worth keeping. He's a decent prospect.

I would only be interested in waiving him if it meant a rotation caliber player was taking his place. Otherwise, I don't see the point. Since that isn't on the table at the moment ... I see no point in waiving in Hudson.

I just don't see it.


What I did see was when the starting PG was out, the Celtics start three SGs.  



The Celtics need that spot filled with a player that can step in and play when Rondo is out.

I'd rather have a better defensive player than Hudson, but he seems decent enough to fill the 3rd string PG spot. He's under the cheapest contract, so if the open roster spot is needed it's not too costly to release him anyway.
