It's got to be an embarrassment to the NBA that Iverson and McGrady would be voted in as starters. If either of them had any class, he would recuse himself from the game, to let deserving players in.  McGrady still gets alot of votes because he is wildly popular in China, since he has been teammates with Yao for the last several years. His is the second most popular jersey sold there by far, I recall reading.

Really? In Iverson's mind not only is he an All-Star, but he is the best player ever.

What happens if the 76ers decide not to keep him?  (they can still waive him right not and not pay his total salary)

I guess it's interesting for one thing: has an All Star Starter ever been actually not playing in the league? I mean, not because of injury - that happens all the time - or the Magic Johnson thing from years ago-  but because no team wanted him? I don't think that's ever happened, but it almost did here. He's got to be the least desired all star starter in history.

This reminds me of when Craig Hodges took part in the 3 point shotout wearing a jersey that just said "NBA" even though no NBA wanted him. But this is way worse. Another sad but fitting footnote to AI's career, i think.
If the fans voted Barack Obama as the starting 2 guard, does he play?  Its for the fans!  How about Bob Cousy?

i believe that the current system allows that to happen.   ::)

so, are you suggesting that we at cb should now start a movement to vote jeff into the game?

he has my vote!  ;D

Absolutely!

And then next year... it's my turn!

When you start to think about voting in whoever, the possibilities are really endless  :)
