Arent you really sulking because a 53% foul shooter didnt get more votes? Isnt that IT?

Not at all...way to totally take my entire post and make one massive assumption out of nothing. I'd just as soon see Vince there, at least he has a game still.

But while we're on the topic, that "53% foul shooter" absolutely deserves to be in Dallas on all star weekend, whether it be starting or off the bench. You totally neglect to recognize the fact that he has been playing out of his mind. Will he make it there? I don't know, but he deserves to.

this game is for just show, for many years the players who played in this game, are the players who can bring the show, not the players who deserve it, get over it. This game is not for the ones who deserve the spot with their play, but for those who can bring the show

I disagree; I share the same sentiments as were expressed in this post:

I'd rather have the coaches pick the entire rosters.  The players are biased towards certain players and the fans are just crazy in who they vote for.  You can say that the game is for the fans, but the fans aren't going to watch the game based only on one or two crazy selections.  And to say the game is for the fans is not true anyway.  The game is to promote the NBA, pure and simple.  In my opinion, getting the highest quality players out there is the best way to promote the NBA.  Having Yi or a washed up AI or TMac out there does not give the NBA its best product out there to promote the league.

it is more of an honor to be selected as a reserve.

Couldn't agree more.

I think it's amazing how outraged people get over the All-Star game voting, and it's the same thing every year, it's just so not a big deal.

Let's look at this year, say TMac and Iverson actually do make the team, that is not really going to change the quality of the All-Star game.  Wow 2 out of 24 All-Stars don't deserve to be there (and after injurys come in to play, it will be more like 2 out of 26-28 or 1 out of 26-28).  The whole game is a joke now because 1 player on each team shouldn't be there  ::) This is just not a big deal at all.  There's probably more people on each indiviudal regular team roster that don't even deserve to be in the NBA.

I'm still mad more of us didn't vote for Antoine Walker as the starting shooting guard for the West a couple of years ago.  That would have be so awesome to see.  And if anything would have gotten the NBA to change its format it would have been that.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

I dont know whats worst. Iverson starting in the east...Or McGrady being the number 2 vote getter in the West after averaging 7 minutes a game in only 7 games! Pathetic.

True.

It would be fun to see a game with the voted starters of both conferences on one vs the chosen reserves.  Maybe let each conference vote in a 6th man so there would be 12 on 12.

In my dreams of course, but it would interesting.
Yup

I'd love to see both Iverson and McGrady elected to the all star game. I'm going to vote for both of them.   It would expose what a farce the fan voting is.  The game itself is a farce too.

Its an exhibition game, hard to be a "farce" when you know that going in.

screw it, the all-star game should just be gilbert arenas vs. javaris crittenton one on one, and NO metal detectors to enter the arena!

So you're a fan of thunderball then?

I've always thought that the all-star game could use the added drama of a gun circle at half court.

Added drama?  There's no drama whatsoever in the all star game.  Exhibition baseball is more exciting.  Mowing the lawn is more exciting.

I guess it's interesting for one thing: has an All Star Starter ever been actually not playing in the league? I mean, not because of injury - that happens all the time - or the Magic Johnson thing from years ago-  but because no team wanted him? I don't think that's ever happened, but it almost did here. He's got to be the least desired all star starter in history.

This reminds me of when Craig Hodges took part in the 3 point shotout wearing a jersey that just said "NBA" even though no NBA wanted him. But this is way worse. Another sad but fitting footnote to AI's career, i think.
If the fans voted Barack Obama as the starting 2 guard, does he play?  Its for the fans!  How about Bob Cousy?

i believe that the current system allows that to happen.   ::)

so, are you suggesting that we at cb should now start a movement to vote jeff into the game?

he has my vote!  ;D
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

In the same non bias case, should KG have gotten as many votes as he did?

Sort of apples and oranges, but I see what you're saying.

KG is the starter on a team with one of the best records in the league still.  And he won a Player of the Week a few weeks back.
Yup
