No one brought this up, and though I am NOT AT ALL for it, I like to hear opinions.

Ray Allen for McGrady.

They would definetly do it, contracts are nearly the same.

McGrady is explosive offensively, younger, but a headcase.

Mind me, I do NOT want to trade Ray, just throwin it out there.

I wouldn't want McGrady on this team at all much less an even trade for ray??????

McGrady had microfracture surgery last year and is just beginning to work his way back into extended minutes.  A deal like this would be made just for the expiring contract (which makes no sense b/c Ray is also an expiring deal) and more importantly if we did this deal we would be throwing in the towel on this season.  Not to mention, I think we have more of a chance to get Ray to stay here next year for less money and he'd be more willing to come off the bench than broke back t-mac

Not a good move.

Frankly, I came up with this trade idea right after we got eliminated by Orlando last playoffs. A lot of the responses were on the negative. Some posted that TMac won't last the season because he'll just reinjure himself. Another said that TMac can't get through the first round of a playoff which they believe it may be passed on to us (LOL, don't they remember that Marbury had the luxury of getting past the first round -for the first time in his career with us- last season?). My reason then of pushing this trade is we get the same scoring (even more on some nights) output and a de facto PG when Rondo isn't playing and shooting well.

Right now, I guess my stand would be different considering the fact that TMAC has not displayed any flashes of his old self. It may come around, but the big question is when?

OP should lose a TP for this.  ::)

When people said we'd trade Ray with the right deal, they meant players who were healthy and players who wouldn't pout about their minutes after just coming off injury.

The fascination for McGrady is sickening. I'd much rather have AI. At least he fills a need. McGrady doesn't do that, especially not better than Ray.

As i said, wouldnt do it. Just wanted to here what everyone had to say about it, as everyone gets down on Ray for his age sometimes, and his name gets thrown around a lot around here.

I would do this trade IF...

We added in Giddens and a draft pick or two, then had Houston agree that their intent is to buyout Ray. Then we resign him and we're back to the same team plus an injury prone allstar to work in as our 6th man.

Problem with that is TMac wouldn't agree to be a sixth man. That would go A LOT like the Iverson saga, so no thank you.

Actually, someone posted this as a fanpost a bit earlier in the month. There were a lot of responses and about 99.9% of them were negative.

Gotta go with Greg683x here ... what people need to realize is that this type of injury/surgery very often insures that the person going through it will never have the ability/mobility that they had before. Yes, sometimes that person experiences a 100% recovery, (over a great deal of time), but it's quite common to be affected by it for the rest of one's life, in one way or another.

Even if there was some kind of guarantee that he would return to his former self, (which there obviously isn't), it would still be a roll of the dice as far as his ability to adapt to the Ubuntu "Leave your ego at the door" system that has been so successful since the addition of Ray and KG, the change in chemistry between players that comes with adding such a superstar to the mix, his ability to follow the game plan put forth by the coaching staff, and the loss of one of the greatest pure shooters of all time and most decent and unaffected personalities in basketball, Ray Allen.

So in a nutshell ... NO WAY!! (But a TP for coming up with such a controversial idea while covering your butt at the same time ... that takes blogging talent. ;))

it's sad to think he hit his peak 8 years ago when he was 22 years old.  Too bad.  The guy is actually younger than Kobe and injuries have destroyed him.  At one point people were actually debating that TMac was better and had more potential than Kobe.

I gotta defend T-Mac here, he never disappeared in the playoffs, his team just never won. I remember him taking a good Detroit & Milwaukee back to the wire when he was back in Orlando by himself without even a 2nd option with Grant Hill being hurt. And also almost beating a good to great Dallas team after exploding for the whole series & almost took home court advantage from a 1 or 2 seeded Dallas team at that time. Who can forget him dunking on Shawn Bradley & scoring 47pts. in that victory. The best team always happened to win the series against T-Mac. Also he played pretty admirably against Utah sriously hurt with a bad shoulder & Knee with no Yao Ming & almost won again in the 08'playoffs. Not going to blame it all on Tracy!

Throughout his career TMAC has been good in the playoffs.  But in recent years his teams play much better without him.  Without TMAC, his teams are tougher, hustle more, and are more unselfish.

I love the way Ray is playing right now, he really looks comfortable and effective so I wouldn't trade him for an even better deal.
