By the way Golden State plays and we get sucked into playing that way as well. This team needs to pick itself up and get a big W in Phoenix

When you drag your feet and do nothing all night.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

I'm sorry, I cant tolerate my favorite player, Kevin Garnett, scoring 10/10/12/16 points over the last 4 games. I'm sick and tired of seeing him shooting 17-18 foot jumpers, and one-dribble left contested fade-away jumpers from 20 ft. He needs to get his butt back down on the blocks and go to work.

I live in the midwest, and so i haven't seen every single game, but for all of the games I have seen of boston this year, I have yet to see KG do or use his patented shimmy-shake turnaround out of the post, not once have i seen that.

Its games like these, against Golden State, that he has to make running teams play defense, because taking jumpers and being passive, helps compensate for the defensive shortcomings.

KG's got to get back in the post and be an offensive threat, especially with paul out, but I dont remeber that last time KG has drawn a dbl. team. I think KG thinks he is helping or making it easier for the other guys, buy being passive offensively and only taking jumpers, but in actuality he is kind of hurting the offense.

As a big, being able to step out and hit a mid-range jumper is no longer a rare luxory that it once was. It is now almost completely the norm, almost every team has at least 1 big who can step out and stretch the floor(think about it, go through all of the teams in the league and think about it). So defenses are prepared for that throughout the league, and is no longer a major advantage or exploitation of the opposing  teams defense. don't get me wrong, its still a valuable threat but, right now a rarity is having a bigs who are able to do damage in the post offensively. ( we have 2+ of those 3 if you count perk, in addition to Sheed and KG)

If KG continues to shoot jumpshots only, he loses some of his value. because he becomes purely a "jumpshooting" big man, instead of a big man who can step out and hit the jumper.

As a majority of the time, KG being the most offensively talented big man everytime he steps out on the floor, I feel he needs to be more selfish offensively, and specifically in the post. He needs to make it a goal, every night to force teams to double team him down on the blocks. It would open up things so much for guys like Eddie and Ray, and would give Rondo more room to operate, and with a slightly improved jumper, could use it more effecitvely, because defenses would have Rondo's man, leave him to go dbl. KG in the post.

Overall, I just feel KG is hurting the offense by not being a force down in the paint. Teams aren't really viewing him as much of an offensive threat anymore, and I think he is sort of like a wasted weapon right now. And this would not change how the celtics play offensively, as far as scoring by committee, because like i said, KG does enough damage in the post to cause a dbl. team, that opens things up obviously for the perimeter players, it gets the defense in foul trouble, especially the bigs.

Maybe I'm asking for to much, but I can't help but think about watching a game where KG and Rasheed Wallace are just absolutely destroying the post, and teams began dbl. teaming, and then Sheed and Kev start kicking it out, and then Ray and Paul catch fire, while Rondo is slashing, and making the extra pass. etc.

that incredibly ugly second quarter where starters were on the bench and eddie and scal and big baby and rasheed were in...no offensive movement or fluidity from them, even though rondo was out there, he was banged up with his hammy and he took a shot in the head.

and then the beginning of the 3rd with TA and his like 3 TOs in a row or something, he had a rough time there

pierce is so valuable in his ability to run the offense in the beginning of the 2nd when every starter but him goes to the bench and the reserves come in and do their thing.

i dont know if we'll be alright with marquis/eddie doing the ball handling for that 2nd unit when rondo is out, because whenever rondo does come out, our offense is just so stagnant its not even funny

tyronne lue anybody? lol

You can not win in the NBA with 26 turnovers ... inexcusable and horrible stat. There were many other factors, the inbalence in fouls, the absolutely absurd calls in the 4th quarter, lack of energy, lack of Paul Pierce, etc., but it still would have been a blowout if we hadn't turned it over that many times. Also while I'm thinking of it, I'm getting sick of Sheed's laziness and launching bricks from the three-point line when he is ten times as effective on the low post ... he goes down to the three-point circle and waits for the ball so he can brick up another ... I hate it. Yes, he can shoot the three at times, but ALL the time? Come on, Sheed ... wake up!

Perk, Baby and and Tony having a combined 13 turnovers when they barely handled the ball is inexcusable. Truly horrible stuff there. For a guy like Rondo, who played 46 minutes and dished out 15 dimes, to have 6 turnovers isn't desirable but at least three is understandable. I can forgive his turnovers considering he was handling the ball so much and trying to create so much. Everyone else doesn't deserve the same consideration when it comes to the turnovers.

I will say though that overall this year turnovers aren't this team's major problem. Allowing second chances on the defensive boards and horrible play versus bad teams is what is disconcerting to me.

I wouldn't mind Doc, putting on the old short-shorts and running things for the 2nd unit right now.

But I have been saying for the longest, that we should trade and get Acie Law, for the second unit. but all i got in response, was that acie law was garbage, and couldn't do this , couldn't do that, look at his stats, etc. etc.

All i want is a NATURAL POINT GUARD, who can handle the ball, with size, to compensate for eddie house at the 2, and is not a shoot first point, plus Law has an expiring contract.

And with the assets we have as far as tradeable peaces, I think Acie Law is close in value. TA for Law, Scal for Law, Scal and JR for Law.

There's absolutely no reason to have 3 players who aren't point guards trying to act like point guards.  hahaha. that is straight ridiculous when you think about it. We have players who arent point guards acting in  on the 2nd unit as point guards. Tony Allen, Marquis Daniels, Eddie House. These are our options at point guard behind rondo. Not one of these guys has ever started more than 5 games in there entire career at point guard for any team.

I wouldn't mind Ty Lue right now at all.

I agree with you, Bahku. I don't think Sheed even gives himself enough credit as far as his posting up ability.

I was absolutely impressed with him on Christmas Day...that was one of the few games I have been able to see the Celtics play this year, and Sheed was doing his thing In The Paint...had like three dunks. I really believe that his play down there was the back breaker for ORL.

He's still my man, though. We'll need him down the stretch.

KG is still coddling his knee, for sure. He was holding it tonight in the last 4 min. after he got hit.

BTW, how does one put a quote in the green box like that to reply to it? I'm still in the infant stage here.

At the top of the text box, over to the right, (beside the time listed and to the far right border), is a box with the word "Quote" and an Icon of someone talking ... just click on that, scroll to the bottom in the reply box, (so your text is under the [/quote} marker), and then list as usual.

There is a quote button on each post as you will see in this current post it will be in the top right. ^^^

You hit that button to quote whoever it is you want to quote and then you type your response.
