Its frustrating

Its very frustrating to see Rondo, who has otherwordly talents in nearly every facet of the game, be held back by his lack of a shot. FTs, mid-long range jumpers, whatever, it seems as if he will always be held back by his shot. His shot improved from year 1 to year 2, but it hasn't really gotten any better since then. Last night Clippers game just really summed it up; Rondo was having a great game, but when it came down to it, he choked because he still simply cannot shoot. Any argument that Rondo is as good as CP3 or that Rondo should be in the All-Star game is immediately shot down when you see his 53 percent free throw mark or watch the way opposing defenders play off of him (and he rarely makes them pay). I want to see the kid succeed and become a superstar in the this league, but I don't think he'll ever get there unless his shot drastically imporves over the next few years.

like i said in another thread....rondo's positive attributes FAR outweigh his flaws! 

he cant shoot, but he is a triple double waiting to happen, not to mention his a a good defender.

with regards to last night......yes he choked, but the game should have NEVER gotten to that point.  they let up defensively as a team and settled for crappy shots/outside shots.

It is not Rondo's fault that we lost this game.We had a 10 point lead in the 4th quarter that our team blew.  Rondo wasnt assigned to the 3 pt shooter that was left wide open with 10 sec left, Rondo didnt get 2 techs at critical moments in the game, so to have any thought that he is the reason we lost is silly imo.. He is 23 yrs old growing before our eyes, improving every game and is arguably one of our most  consistent players.  I am happy  he tried to make a play and didnt shy away from the moment, that is what true leaders do.. Would we be having this discussion if PP was playing and missed 2 free throws?

Doc should have drawn up a Ray Allen pick and roll with KG.

Thank you house call! I am on this site everyday I usually just read everyone elses posts... Also I disagree that Doc should've ran a play for Ray or KG.  First off we dont know he didnt attempt to and maybe they couldnt break free, second if Rondo is our future we have to give him confidence and allow him to make a play.  If PP was there than we know where the ball would have gone, but after PP Rondo is our best attacker imo. Every other "franchise pg" is given the keys at the end of a game to try and make a play, so Rondo needs to be given the same option if he is going to grow and feel confident the next time around..

I am not saying it is his fault we lost that game, I'm saying that its frustrating to see Rondo, who is more talented than almost every other point guard in the league, be continually held back by is poor shooting in general. Last night was just an example. Rondo is my favorite player in the league, its not an insult to him; its just a commentary on how Rondo's talents are partially hidden by his poor shooting.

I think what he is trying to say and I would agree with him on it, is that if Rondo was an 80% free throw shooter and could knock down that 15-18 footer he'd arguably be the best PG in the NBA. Instead it puts him in the 5-10 range. Not bad at all, and glad that we have him, but it is the UPSIDE that if frustrating.

And I agree that his ft shooting is holding him back right now, my disagreement is that he is still so young and improving his game.  When he first came in the league or better yet our championship season, the knock was he couldnt score the ball, and couldnt finish at the  rim.  Rondo has worked hard on that and for someone who can not shoot jumpers that well YET, he has  found away to improve his scoring abilitiy and become a better finisher. I have faith that he will become a decent ft shooter, maybe not 80% but decent, as his game improves he will improve.. But at 23 yrs old, the 21rst (I think withhout looking) pick in the draft, playing on a vet team and being asked to run this team, I am happy with where he is. If that makes hima 5-10 pg in the league right now, I am very happy with where he is. Rondo's arrogance and confidence will not allow him to stop trying to improve his shooting.

i been hatin a lil bit on rondo..but that kat got wheels..go any direction stop and change again goin at 100 miles hr...but thinkin back to yesterdays game..

paul was truly missed yesterday....he is a big that can drive and get 3 the hard way...rondo and ray got problems gettin that close..
