Thank you, sir.

If my recall of the schedule is correct while I'm trying to shake off sleepiness and write about the D-League at 3am local time, then yup, it's tonight.

This has all the makings of me snoozing through my trip to IZOD to see Durant light up the Nets and then hopefully getting somewhere closer to full consciousness by the time I make it home for the last half or so of C's-Warriors.

You're most welcome.

Have fun while erm... snoozing through that first one ;)

Why does Doc not learn from this same mistake over and over?

We have been beaten by buzzer beaters probably about 3 or 4 times in the last few season and this is something that Doc has to learn from. You put a big man on the inbound passer to make it a much more difficult pass to get a shot off! Doc always has a guard guarding the inbound pass and it has burned us more than once, it just doesnt make much sense to me ....

fast forward to 2:15

I mean in these videos the inbound pass isn't even close to being bothered with small guards just backing off and letting them pass the ball in easily for the game winning shot. Come on Doc you are supposed to learn from your mistakes.

Yep when I saw that we had Ray Allen 5 feet away from the inbounder I had a feeling that something bad was going to happen. We should have had Sheed guarding the inbounder and making it really tough to make a clean pass using his length. I understand not using a big man to guard the inbounds pass when there's enough time to get it back to the inbounder - but with 1 second left there wasn't enough time. That's a mistake by Doc (or Thibodeau if he was the one calling the play).

This has been what ive been saying all night long yesterday, Ray Allen blew the defensive assignment on that 3pt shot by Butler..and then again was not only 5 ft away from the inbounding player, you can also see on the replay that the Clippers would be running just one play, one option and that is Baron Davis recieving a catch and shoot, now if Ray was not going to gurd the inbounder coz he is 5 ft away, why on earth did he not even deny the passing angle to Baron, I mean Ray basically just stood there..Cmon Ray, its an obvious defensive lapse on Doc, Tom T, and moreso on Ray Allen, Rondo had to do what he had to do which was to cover Baron's eyes for the shot...Doc was absolutely clueless on what to do on the last defensive play and they are obviously thinking OT. :-\

I didn't think it was a lapse on Allen for leaving Butler.  Davis blew by Rondo and I think it was either Perk or KG that he squeezed though, Allen had to go and help.
do it

You give up the two in a 3 point game.

He blew by Rondo because Rondo was up to prevent a 3 point shot. That should have been Ray's main concern.

Time and situation change how your defense should operate. Just a small mental error, one of many that led up to that loss.

Game planning aside, this team has a habbit of playing flat against inferior competition. Some of the blame for that has to rest on the coach's inability to have his team prepared for every game. They have to have that killer mentality every game ad it should start with the coach. As a player's coach, maybe Doc isnt tough enough on his team all the time.

That being said I think Doc manages this talent very well but I hope to see some blowouts against these crappy teams in the ear future.

Gentlemen I think most everyone has made some good points about the loss. Blame Doc, blame Rondo...whatever. let's remember it's a marathon not a sprint . We're going to lose games we should have won and in hindsight there's always someone to blame.
What worries me more is still no legit backup point guard in sight. Rondo is going to go down at some point this season. His style of play is going to earn a stint on the DL. Hopefully it will be a short one. To my thinking we have to find a backup PG.

Now that I've slept on it I'm even less inclined to assign blame. The defensive lapses at the end, the playcalling and Rondo's FT shooting can be worked on. Better now than June is my
mantra these days.

I honestly think this loss is the least painful one I've seen in a long while. We didn't sleepwalk through the first half and dig ourselves a big hole. The lapses that cost us at the end were avoidable but when they start on a good note and end the game sloppily I'm more inclined to be sympathetic and attribute it to jetlag and fatigue catching up with them than when they sleepwalk through the whole game.

Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

My blame pie

Awesome. Since this thread is the 'This lose is on Doc'. I would put Doc @ 28%. Just cause Dunleavy coached team beat a Celtics team.

Yes, except you don't get home court advantage throughout which will be a monster advantage to us in the playoffs without beating the teams that you just have to beat. All those little "one games" add up to 6-7 at the end of the season and cost us HCA.

Well, we are still two games ahead of everyone else in the East. Let's not worry about that right now unless we start losing back to back. Let's just kill the Warriors, like we're SUPPOSED TO.
