Charlotte sends:

Gerald Wallace

Boston sends:

JR Giddens
Brian Scalabrine
Eddie House
Tony Allen

The salaries match up. This also opens up roster spots for the Celtics.

Boston's second unit:

Lester Hudson/other PG, i.e. Ty Lue
Marquis Daniels
Gerald Wallace
Glen Davis/Shelden Williams
Rasheed Wallace

I would assume most, if not all, Celtics fans would pull the trigger on this trade in a heartbeat, but would Charlotte?  Tony Allen's value is probably at his highest right now, but we are aware he may drop into the post-injury TA we saw last year.

Honestly, I don't know if this has been brought up as a trade idea before (sorry in advance if it has), but after being impressed with Gerald Wallace's play this season, I feel he really deserves to be on a championship contender.  With that said, if Charlotte would send him to us for our scraps, would he be ok with coming off the bench?

I'll definitely appreciate any discussion!

Why for the Bobcats?

The top reason I can think of here is the expiring contracts we offer them.  They may try to use these contracts in a package to get Chandler off their hands, who is making ~12 million this year, and ~13 million next year.

Don't see why the Bobcats would look to shed salary now after they just dealt for Stephen Jackson.

Wallace is the best player on their team.  I think they believe that with the young core they have that they can build around it.  He's averaging 18 and 12, sure he's not a legit #1 option, but I think he is a good number 2 option.  If they were going to shed salary they would do it with other people on the team.

I wouldn't do this trade because if Charlotte agrees to it, they know something terrible about Gerald Wallace that we don't know.

Like, he's been using steroids and smoking pot and is scheduled for a drug test next week.

Or he got injured in practice and they want to trade him quick before anyone finds out.

Or he has a time bomb in his chest that will go off in two weeks.

No way the Bobcats trade GW for trash, even if it is a lot of trash.

With the way Wallace has played and his obvious desire to be a winner, the last player I could ever see the Cats trading would be Gerald Wallace. I expect Chandler and Diaw to go before Wallace or Jackson would.

Gerald Wallace has serious medical issues. And I mean serious. Think Brian Scalabrine from last season, and then some.

He's had multiple concussions over his career, and this got to a situation where the coaches were asked not to play him at PF, since banging with bigger players poses a health risk.

He hasn't had a concussion in a while, yet he sustained a blow in the head last week and had to be held out of a game because of migraine.

While this makes him a time bomb, he's still a great player, and won't be traded for garbage.
