Blind faith is what we should have in Doc and Danny by now, they know the deal. He's overplaying them because they want to play, home court against the Hawks matters a lot regardless of how the road record has held up, I'm with Doc. The Spurs and Pistons rarely tinkered with youth, this team's cut from the same cloth, it's for a reason.

Yeah the Pistons only started using guys like Stucky and Bynum once they were on their way down, too. Good point.
Way down? Who knows what's gonna happen with Ray's situation in the offseason, too many assumptions around here if you ask me. 2010 is coming up and people are thinking we have limited options, gimme a break.

for a thread about minutes, i dont see many stats on minutes here.

indeed, very little has been mentioned about the actual minutes played by the starters. so, just for fun and for background to this discussion...

Player - minutes for 09/10, 08/09, 07/08, & career average

Ray Allen - 35:30, 36:23, 35:30, & 37:12
Kev Garnet- 30:36, 31:06, 32:47, & 37:23
P Pierce  - 35:23, 37:30, 35:53, & 37:30
K Perkins - 27:52, 29:36, 24:30, & 21:30
R Rondo   - 34:23, 33:00, 29:53, & 29:23

well, according to the thread title, the big three should be playing as many minutes as last year. but the numbers say...close, but not quite.

Ray's time is down by 53 seconds.
Kevin's time is down by 30 seconds.
Paul's time is down by 2 minutes 7 seconds.
perk's minutes are down from last year, by 1 minute 44 seconds.

only Rondo is playing more minutes, 1:23 to be exact.

so, doc may be overplaying the starters, but it is not quite the same as last year.

and just for reference...

- kobe averages 37:42 this season.
- duncan averages 32:12 this season.
- nash averages 33:42 this season.

and finally, of the top 40 scorers in the nba this season, 28 (70%) of them log more minutes than any of the celtics big three.

People need to give Doc a break hes doing a great job since he had talent and yet all this board does is blame him for everything.

amen!

Actually all this board does is defend Doc. He has walked on water with some for 2 years now.  Not that I agree with the OP. But If you make even a slight suggestion that Doc did something he wrong The Doc apologist come out in full force

Just make it a fact based argument at least.

Are you talking to all 3 people in this exchange? Or was I just without the facts because I didn't defend Doc?

....I was agreeing with you.

But now I don't what you're talking about...

so.....

yeah.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

You don't want to hear it, don't want to believe it, but it is happening again...Why? Well, Doc's mentality hasn't improved, he is one dimensional....PP & KG...hurt.   Why not try a more blended rotation instead of the usual 5 starters till they get tired and hurt...?  Are they getting younger? Playing every game, all game 30+ minutes, well, look at the results, especially with the same injuries to the same players, did you also see Sheed holding HIS shoulder..? Yes, players get regular injuries, but lets keep focused on what REALLY matters here, does a regular season record make great history.....(Patriots), no one cares about the regular season, the only thing that matters is the playoffs and who wins the CHAMPIONSHIP. so that would be who is healthy and ready for these playoffs..Hey Doc, you tried this formula last year, show some growth, try a different rotation, one that develops young players and conserves the veterans until the playoffs, this will give them the sync that they need with the healthy bodies to go the distance....you can argue with me, but you can't dismiss what is going on.....PP, KG.....

Got news for you and whoever else decides to start threads like this. Fans like myself watch the Celtics to root on the big names: Garnett, Ray, Pierce, Sheed, Daniels, etc.

Personally I don't really care to watch Lester Hudson, Giddens, Bill Walker, Lucky the Leprechaun or whoever else is the young, exciting flavor of the month.

Yes, we can't dismiss the fact that the starters, Pierce and Garnett, are playing less minutes than last season. That's not even worth wasting the time to argue, just do yourself a favor and read the number.

I don't think Doc is overplaying the starters per se. The injuries have dictated a bit of a redistribution in minutes. The Celtics sit at 22 and 5, down 3 games from last year's start thanks to their Friday night home woes. The road work as kept the Celtics in the chase for best record.

The bench has disappointed me at bit, I was hoping for better production out of Sheed and Eddie House has not played well.

Tony Allen can help us out here in the coming weeks and then Danny should look to trade him along with Scalabrine for a solid mid-level type wing player stuck on a mediocre team.
Wins are few, times are hard. Here is your bleeping St Patricks Day Card.

OK, I misread the last post from Meadowlark (there was a quote in there that did not appear as a quote)

Regardless, this thread has not been constructive, so the lock stays. - Redz
