  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
perk showing everyone watching that howard is one dimensional on the offensive end. hilarious to watch how limited he really is.

My thoughts exactly.

Those were really bad offensive possessions by dwight...

To quote myself from earlier: How can Dwight Howard have been in the league so long and have such horrible one-on-one offensive moves? They are non-existent. Perk had none when he came in the league, he has worked at it and now he is a very good post player. I know Ewing works with Howard but apparently he is a horrible student. Just no moves, post-up or facing the basket.

It is embarassing how bad he is at creating his own shot.

his athleticism and size are the only two things keeping him in the nba.

He defeneds and rebounds, offense isn't his thing.

If I were the Magic management I'd pair him with someonelike Bosh, Amare, Boozer, etc.

Magic are completely befuddled by this defense ... if the Celts can come out with the same kind of defensive pressure in the third, they can put this away. Also keep posting up Sheed and KG, go right at Howard and get another foul or two on him. Rashard has been quiet ... that bothers me, cuz he's very rarely quiet for an entire game. I hope the C's have anticipated that and are ready with the proper adjustments.

Hopefully Ray would do what PP did in the last game and show up to the second half.

Just in case you didn't notice it: the celts held the magic to 27 points in that half...
Pretty sensational D! If they can keep it up and get some more guys going on offense...

  • Ray Allen είναι ο άνθρωπος.
Rondo with no assists? Ray with 4 shots?

Stuart Scott and Magic are already talking about the Laker game on the halftime show. They make me want to puke!

Howard's offensive game always looks limited against Boston because Perkins does a great job keeping him from getting great low post position. Any low post player, even Hakeem, is much more limited when they can't get position. It's why Yao and Perkins always give Dwight problems, because he cannot consistently get post position down low on them.

Instead of constantly mocking Howard's post game, give your players credit. He has no problems scoring on a guy like Duncan, so obviously he has some offense. Push anyone out of their comfort spot and they'll struggle. The Celtics do a great job on Howard, it doesn't mean his offense is non-existant.

I'm proud of our makeshift lineups and their effort. That second quarter was a joy to watch.

Yeah ... I was thinking the same thing ... Magic basically saying he didn't even care about this game ... stroking the two NBA's "gods" ... makes me nauseous, too. (TP)

No denying Perk's (and Sheed's) outstanding D on Dwight, I'm loving it and it's been a joy to watch the c's defense for me (though most people hate those low-scoring games).
BUT: Dwight just happens to have very limited offensive moves. Sure he can push-off most guys so he can get position on them and go up right underneath the rim, etc.
It's just with his physical gifts you wonder what he might be like with decent post-moves as well... (Like I said, sort of like Rondo with a sniper-like jumper...)

There is no denying Perk's excellent D. He is a beast and an excellent defender. That said, against Perk or lesser defenders Howard's moves are not good to say the least. At some point he has to learn some post moves and face up moves, let alone a 12 foot, at the least, shot. As I said, Perkins came into the league incredibly rough as an offensive player but he has worked and developed an excellent post game, great footwork, the baby hook and a solid 12 foot shot. Players like Hakeem, Ewing, McHale, etc knew when faced with a strong defensive player who wouldn't give them position they had to use a face-up game, develop their range, have the threat out to 15 feet of a jump shot be not simply a scoring option but used to enable them to work their way down to the block or into the lane.

Ewing coaches Howard but Dwight has apparantly not learned from Patrick. Look at Ewing, he developed an outstanding 15-17 foot face up shot over the course of his career that made him amazingly difficult to defend. Howard succeeds offensively when he can out muscle a defender. It takes a lot more than that to be a true force. He needs to work on his footwork first and foremost, develop an up and under, a face up game, etc.

I never tried to slight Perk. He always defends well. It is what you can do when faced with a great defender that sets you apart, and what we can see is that Howard can't do anything in that scenario.

But Shaq is just a class act and a guy I can't help to root for on some level!
