Pierce is out, Garnett is being pulled from games and held out of practices. Ray Allen is old. BBD isn't back yet. Marquis Daniels is out until February. Rasheed ain changin for nobody. We're walking into the toughest stretch of the schedule, probably all season.

That all seems like a big 'ol load of terrible ju-ju, but I don't care. Now I'm not one much for "Official" threads. I usually find them 'shallow and pedantic'. But in this particular case, I will abuse my mod powers, and I'm gonna make this thread 'Official'

Cause you know what? Im not worried. Not one single bit. We might lose a few games, we might win a few people don't expect us to, but I tell you what, 2010 is the year of the green baby, and we'll pull through this. Support your boys when its gettin dark!

As a bonus you can change your vote if your faith waivers. Merry Christmas, Everyone!

Not worried at all. It's only a small and insignificant phase of the season. KG and Pierce will be back soon enough.

I'm disappointed though. I was very much looking forward to that Celtics-Magic matchup on Christmas day. The result didn't mean anything to me, I just wanted to see how a full strength C's matched up against Orlando. No Paul Pierce ruins that test run.

This team is really getting hit hard by Karma all of a sudden.  To go along with all of this, Ray just mistakenly sent out a very dirty tweet (although he claims someone hacked his account).  Hopefully everything will get back on track, but right now, I am just waiting to see what else is going to happen.

It's been taken down (and it is not appropriate to post what it said), but you can see the aftermath...

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that he actually was hacked, and didn't just tweet a text message by mistake or something...but either way, it is just more bad luck for this team that is suddenly snake bitten.

Do you think it would be appropriate to send what it was in a private message? I'm curious as to what was posted!

I'm not worried ... I'm one of those whackos, (this can be verified by many here at CB) who believes that everything, no matter how horrible, happens for a reason ... and a positive reason, though sometimes it's very difficult to discover what that reason is, and sometimes the reason isn't the one we want.

So while this is terrible timing for Paul's injury, and while the immediate future seems a bit stormy as a result, like everything, it's temporary, and we'll get through it together. So yes, you can add me to the list of "Not Worried" ... things can always get worse, and the BIG PICTURE is the playoffs and championship, and I have faith we'll be where we need to be by then.

That said, I can also say honestly ... I am soooooooooooo disappointed it isn't funny! One of the highlights of my Christmas planning included watching the Truth light it up in Orlando ... he almost always plays huge when it's a national telecast, and I had no doubt that this would have been one of those Pierce score-fests.

So, for the long-haul I'm not worried, not at all, but for the short-term, I am extremely disappointed ... in spite of all my efforts to the contrary, Christmas will have a little cloud over it, and a few tiny raindrops are going to fall onto my Santa's Hat-covered head.

I say we blame all of this on the Lakers..they are responsible, somehow...Just Kidding LA readers ;D.

But seriously, I believe we'll be fine. I've been a Celtics Fan for too long and this little patch of clouds ain't nothing compared to the 90's and early 00's. I remember wearing my Celtics Shirt during those times and I was the butt of jokes for a minute, but I knew better times were coming.

Sure enough, that improbable 2001-2002 playoff run with Pierce and Toine doing their thing, and then The Trade. I'll never forget..smack dab during the middle of the deployment one of the diehard Spurs fans comes up to me that morning in Summer of 2007 and tells me: Hey man your boys just got KG and Ray Allen.

Well we have KG and Ray Allen playing tomorrow....and a much improved Perk, and a matured Rondo, who seems to thrive on pressure (performance during last yrs playoffs).

TA won't disappoint, either. This team will be fine.

TP. That main-page post is full of chicken little's. Injuries happen. Two weeks is not that big of a deal. Yes, it is unfortunate to be missing The Captain on Christmas Day. As one who is not Christian my Xmas is built around basketball   :) I still think we can beat Orlando on national TV (my other big regret about that game is not having the old NBA on NBC broadcast, Marv, that theme song, etc...seriously, it doesn't feel like a truly big game, or the finals, without Marv).

But yes, I am still optimistic, and better now than...

If it was April, Pierce and KG wouldn't be missing any time.  This is a case of Ainge being super conservative, and I don't blame him.  While I would love to see them win 65+ games and get the #1 seed, that ultimately means nothing if KG and Pierce aren't healthy.

Even if they lose a bunch of games during this stretch, it really doesn't matter.  As long at they're a top 3 seed come April, I'm happy.

TP.

Hard to read lots of the doom and gloom over one game, or even stretches of games, especially from Celtic fans in the land of Mickey Mouse (ahem...).

All I can remember both last year, and before this year, is what good did 62 wins do the C's last year, as well as homecourt, as they got bounced on their own floor, at less than full strength, in Game 7.  The new refrain was, win 55+ get a top 4 seed, but most importantly, be healthy and at full strength for the playoff run.

Well, here we are, very early, similar to the 27-2 run to start last year, and some unfortunate injuries have cropped up.  Of course, its impossible to know what the future holds, or what else might happen, but with what we do know, all the current injuries are not season ending, with all those players projected to be back at some point.  Yet, there still seems to be much carping about bad karma, the team is showing its age, we have ZERO chance against Orlando, etc.

The Celts may have lost the Orlando game anyway, in the big picture, irrelevant.  If they win 55-60, instead of 60-65, again, not a big loss if this juggernaut has all its pieces back healthy and ready.  We have seen the mental toughness this team has on the road this year, so having to take 1, just 1 game on another team's court to nullify home court advantage, doesn't seem like a huge hurdle.  In fact, maybe this stretch will help some others to step forward, like TA, or Walker, and even form some toughness having to play without the Captain.  I am sure there will be some losses as casualties, but I thought everyone agreed, the max # of wins was not really the goal anyway.

In a strange way, I am looking forward to the Christmas game, to see if any of these subplots begin developing.  They might get blown out, but it is a tough road game and they might have anyway.  What if they somehow win? (although we have been told they have ZERO chance, which if true, they should cancel the game).  That would be some sweet victory.  They face a no-lose situation on Christmas, and the goal of being full strength for the playoffs is still well within reach.

I have mixed feelings. I'm disappointed not to have Pierce on the Christmas showdown, and a little bit frustrated that our next games will get a much tougher than expected because of his absence.

On the other hand, I feel like if we were due to have injuries, then it's OK to have them in December as long as we are healthy for the playoffs. It's "good" timing if we see things that way.

However, I must admit I'm a bit worried because, although I really want to trust the Celtics when they say it's minor, it's just a 2 weeks absence, etc, I still have a hard time trusting them after last season's reports on KG's knee.

Too bad we will lose some games and probably our top seed during the next weeks. But if Paul and KG are really fine, and the Celtics are just taking precautions to keep them fresh for the playoffs, then I'm not worried at all. And I hope Doc won't overplay Ray and KG because of Pierce's absence.

Until I see Pierce and KG back on the floor playing up to their levels, there is a little worry.

The KG saga last year is just to fresh in my mind.

p.s.  no panic moves by the front office.
