I will say this, Scalabrine does drive me to drink - whether or not that is a good thing I'm not sure.

During last year's post season I watched at least 4 games from the Celtics-Bulls series in a sports bar, and even though Scalabrine was playing well most of that series, I was still on edge (especially considering the countless overtime periods that were a trademark of the match-up).

Now I'm not by any means a heavy drinker, but I did have a few extra beers, any thing to calm my nerves. Thankfully Scalabrine helped us out in game 7 otherwise I might have pulled a Kobe that night(remembers back to one of his post-game interviews during the 2008 Finals) and gotten trashed...

I guarantee Scals plays big minutes vs Orlando. Doc thinks Scals is a R. Lewis stopper.

Lol....Well in fairness to Scal, he DID play decent defense against Rashard Lewis in "Stretches"....remember the block he had against him in I think game 6 of the series last yr in the playoffs against ORL?

ORL won the game, but still....

I normally defend Scal, but this season he's been beyond terrible.  That goes for his defense, as well.

in complete agreement.  the only season where he wasn't useless was last year.  the 1st 3 years of his contract he stunk.

can't wait for the trading deadline when Danny is sure to include him in a deal for someone that could be useful.

I can't blame Doc for Scals playing over S - Williams last night. The "Fan Favorite" in theory has more lateral quickness then Williams.

I don't even get upset , anymore , with Scals passing up wide open shots. Give the ball to the star shooters. Keep them happy.

Last night Scals was the best option to cover Murphy. Maybe that tells us something about team needs.

In Scals case ,he is what he is. Don't get your hopes up and you won't be let down.

When Scal came in to the game it was the 1st burst of energy for us all game. He was a spark. His stats might not look like much but he brings all he has.

Murphy killed them last night. Scal not only couldn't guard him but didn't keep him off the boards either. While perhaps Williams wouldn't have defend him better he certainly would have done a better job on the boards.

I do agree that I don't really get mad either. Liked I've said before, I'm sure he tries as hard as he can, but so do the old guys at the Y.

BOY, I hope not. Who would want to trade for that.

Donny Marshall? Is that you?? I watched the game and that is not what I saw. We played 4 against 5 on offense while he was on the court. As soon as he went to the bench in the 2nd half, we took the lead and never looked back.

  • You say when......
I have to say, this is classic Doc style, he plays people he likes, remember sam cassel..? Sheldon is wayyyy better than scal and has plenty of upside, he is getting better, his offense will only get better with more playing time.....He reminds me of Leon Powe, remember him???? His offense came on in the same way, with more prime playing time...How can Doc look away from a REBOUNDER with inside game..a real BLUE-COLLER type He is always in there, look at his numbers, his defense is fine , watch him off the ball, he would have slowed if not stopped Murphy last night, and we NEED rebounds against Orlando....! He needs to be played with some of the starters, that is how Leon got going, Eddie fed him, they KG, then he was the man...! Get Sheldon out there, have Rondo feed him a few times on the block, and we will have the next piece we need....Do the Lakers play a scal type in prime time...? No other prime team does, Doc's range is limited....

The ONLY trhing that would make 2% sense here is that Doc/Danny are trying to showcase Scal  (stop laughing) to trade him...but as most of you know, it is only ruining the chance of that...He gets paid 5 million I think, and hasn't EVER developed anything new, no strength, no shot, no ball sense, no D.....I don't hate the man, I don't know him, but I hate his BBall, he should be very happy he has made so much money running around in green shorts..!

I've been reading this forum since last season, and as you guys I am a 100% celtics fan!

So, just wanted to leave my opinion about Scal....

During our game against the T-Wolves, we had a huge lead...prob between 20 - 30 points... and then what happened?? Scal comes into the game.... and the lead is now 10 -15.....
It used to be funny to see people cheering everytime he gets the ball in his hand... but I really think this guy is useless for our championship goals.... he can't penetrate, he is afraid of shooting.. I remember last season he was able to make some 3's... but hey.. we have house, allen, pierce to take care of that..... It doesn't make sense to me to keep giving him so many minutes... why don't even try... giddens??

Scal was a much better matchup against Murphy than Shelden.  But ever since Scal has been here there have always been guys I wanted to play instead of Scal- from Gomes to Powe to Baby to Justin Reed.  It actually boggles my mind that Scal is in the NBA at all.
