Two general managers told me they’ve called the Blazers to inquire about Miller's availability and been told that Miller isn’t available right now. Rather, those two GMs have reason to believe that Portland GM Kevin Pritichard is shopping Blake.
....
There is yet another source of internal pressure: Jerryd Bayless, who has become very restless about his lack of minutes and is speaking out. Pritchard likes Bayless’ potential and doesn’t want to give him away. While Bayless hasn’t, according to sources, requested a trade, he will ask out if the situation doesn’t change, and Pritchard wants to avoid that scenario.

There's a fair bunch of people around here who believe that adding another PG should be a priority, so here's another hypothesis and possibly a realistic one.

i would love blake as our backup pg!!!!  BUT it depends on who we give up.  i also dont know blakes contract situation, i just like his game in the backup pg role.

I really, really like Blake, as well.  I'm not sure what we could offer Portland, but I'd love to have him here.

Blake would be pretty ideal.  He is a very good backup PG, and he is also big enough to defend most SG's, so he could play next to House.  Unfortunately, I don't think we have much to offer.

How about Sheldon Williams, Giddens or Walker+ Hudson? Portland is looking for low post help now that Oden is done for the year. They also need some bodies at the wing cause fernandez and outlaw are out for a few months.

They move Andre Miller into the starting lineup and make Jarrod Bayless the backup PG.

Portland would never ever trade Blake(starting PG) for our end of bench players. And trading our core bench could hurt us in the long term. House+Blake=Disaster

Really think Portland is vulnerable right now and desperate for warm bodies. One of their PGs have to go, that's obvious. And they need help at the 4/5 and at the wing.

A package of Baby, Scal and Tony would probably do the Blazers some good but that means sending back to the Celtics more than just Blake. I wonder if the C's through in a future first rounder if they could land Webster with Blake or Bayless with Webster. Guessing New York is going to try to sell them on Curry, Harrington, and or jeffries and that Portland would rather try to work out something with Chicago for Thomas though.

That's just not a package I'm interested in giving up just to address our backup PG need.

Addressing that need hurts our depth in other positions.

To me, I think we can survive our PG situation as it is.  I don't see it as a big enough need to give up multiple bench players/depth.

I agree, isn't Antonio Daniels still a free agent?

I think Webster and Blake or Webster and Bayless would fill a lot of needs with upgrades over the current players at the backup Pg and SF spots.

I don't know if Bayless is better than House. Webster would be a nice get but they aren't going to trade him. They have to play someone at the 3 after all!

Blake would cost BBD and filler.  Maybe a 2nd round pick as well.  I would do it, because as much as I love BBD, Blake fills a bigger need.

However, I do not believe the "source."  I believe Miller is being shopped, not Blake.  Miller was a dumb signing by Portland. The problem is, no one wants Miller, especially given his contract.

I think quite a few teams would like Andre Miller. His contract his an reasonable one for a starting caliber PG.

Only one more year guaranteed at 7.2 million.

Steve Blake has more value as a player than a trade asset. Difficult to see Portland coming out ahead of a Blake trade.

30 years old + free agent at end of season + solid role player (8 and 5 in 30 minutes)

The Blazers won't get value for Blake. Better to hold onto him.

If Portland was willing to give up Steve Blake for a package based around Glen Davis ... then that's a trade I'd happily make.

But I'd also trade Eddie House the first chance I can get. I don't want to see Doc playing both of them in the backcourt. Addition by subtraction at that stage.
