statistically right now the best players on our team are:
KG
Rondo
Pierce
Perk
Ray
... in that order
That might be true but allen has been better and i believe he leads in 3 pt shooting and one of the tops made plus he reached his milstone which is a big accomplishment.
I'm just referencing how they are currently performing statistically if you consider points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks and field goal percentage.
Right now Rondo statistically is the 31st best player in the league.
KG is #34
Pierce is #43
Perk is #66
Ray is #101
That's not to say Ray isn't an excellent player. It's just saying that statistically he is averaging 15.3 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 46% shooting...
Meanwhile, Rondo is averaging 11.7 points, 9.5 assists, 4.2 rebounds, 2.6 steals and 53% shooting.
Simply put... Rondo is putting up the best numbers on the team.
In fact... Rondo currently putting up the best numbers of any point guard in the East (I'm not counting Dwayne Wade as a pure point guard). Keep in mind, all the best point guards are in the West (Nash, CP3, Deron). Actually, Rondo's competition for "best point guard in the east" is so weak right now ... that #2 is none other than Bricks Jennings.
If things continue on this pace, it would be very very difficult for coaches not to add Rondo to the team. That's unless they decide to just fill the East allstar bench with shooting guards and ignore the fact that Rondo is the best point in the conference.
Even if you rank just "guards" right now in the East (based purely on stats)... the rank is:
#1 - Wade
#2 - Iguodala
#3 - Rondo
#4 - Joe Johnson
#5 - Louis Williams
#6 - Bricks Jennings
Seems to me it will be hard for Rondo to miss the team is he continues playing like this.
Pierce and KG will likely both make it, because they are having solid statistical seasons and everyone is well aware they are two of the best players in the league. I'm not sure Ray makes it this year.
I think Perk is statistically a top 10 center in the East right now, but I don't think he makes it.
