To Boston: Hinrich, Salmons
To Chicago: Ray Allen

For Boston: If Ray's shooting accuracy is not excellent, today he can't bring many other things on the table; Salmons and Hinrich are good defenders with the ability to shoot from the 3-point line; Hinrich can also play point-guard starting from the bench for Rajon or play shooting-guard with him.
For Chicago: Ray is still a very good player and he can be their leader; he is also expiring, so next year they can start to rebuild again.

What do you think about this trade?

John Salmons has been too poor offensively this season for me to consider this deal.

If you could rely on him being the scorer (prolific/efficient) he was last season and the year before while starting ... then it would be a very interesting trade ... but I don't think you can do that.

Even when Salmons was playing well offensively he wasn't as complementary a scorer as Ray Allen. He is a rhythm player who is touch + shot dependent and when he has the ball in his hands he suffers from tunnel vision (shooter). I'd worry about his offense declining or him being self-centered when playing around more talented offensive players.

No thanks.  And I still like Kirk but his stock seems to fall a little bit every year.  He seemed like he was going to be a perrenial allstar a few years ago, now he's a horrible shooter off the bench.  I still love his effort and toughness, but he's pretty inefficient.

I like Hinrich too, but the C's can do better for Ray. I would be looking to trade him to Charlotte or New Orleans at the deadline.  Both of those teams have good players with long contracts but are struggling financially.

I like this one with Charlotte much better....and it would make sense for both teams at the deadline.  Charlotte saves $$ and we get some good talent for the stretch run and playoffs.  Hmmmmm

How does trading away their best player, who is playing at an All-Star level (leading the league in rebounds), along with their starting PG and PF, in return for expiring contracts and a young role-player make sense?

Does it really even make sense for our team?  Gerald Wallace and Paul Pierce starting together sounds nice talent-wise but I'm not so sure it'd work that well on the floor.

Maybe it saves Charlotte money in terms of salary, but how many people do you think will go to Bobcats games after they make that trade?  They don't exactly have a very devoted fanbase as it is.  You have to sell tickets to make money, and people don't pay money to watch a team that guts itself mid-season for cap flexibility (see: Nets).

I remember when hinrich had the potential to be a top PG.  That goes to show what a good memory I have...it seems like a long time ago.

I'd take him in a second as a backup PG, though.  If Rondo gets hurt, we're screwed.  I think he's more important to our team than any other single player right now, including KG.  We have other bigs who can step up, but no other PG.

I think we might be able to get him without trading Ray, though.  Chicago has 2 open roster spots they supposedly won't fill because they'd be tax payers, but they need scoring and depth.  A trade for Scal, TA, and Giddens works, but would they take TA, given his history with the greazy underbelly of Chicago?  They could just cut him, and use House's shooting and get a "free" trial of Giddens as a bench scorer, which is more likely a role he could fill (instead of defense).

They stay under the luxury tax this year, get more cap space this summer, and try out a prospect in Giddens.

We get a solid backup PG whose contract runs out when KG's does, and 2 roster spots, without screwing with our starting rotation.

Hinrich might be the guy.  Good find, but wrong proposed deal.

What Who said re: Salmons, plus I think he is too much of a ball-stopper and would left the most used 5 with only a good 3 pt shooter.

Hinrich is more important to Chicago than some of you are assuming. Check their record with and without him. They have big problems stretching the floor because he's their only outside threat and without him it's even worse.

both are shooting terribly right now, and ray stretches the floor for this team in an invaluable way. so no thanks.

Charlotte would be insane to do that deal.  If I were a Charlotte fan and they did that, I'd quit them for good.

Definitely not, we can win a ring this year with Ray, not those guys. The contract ends so no big deal, not worth it. I'd bawl my eyes out for the Charlotte deal, MJ seems dumb enough to pull the trigger.

How many fans do they brig in as it is?  Wouldn't it bring in more next season if they had the $$ to snatch one of the big free agents in the off season?  Would MJ (being LBJ's hero) be able to talk LBJ into going to Charlotte?  You never know....
