I love Tony; thats all I can say. I he remains healthy, he will be good. He had a very good drive to the basket; nobody did it better; then he got hurt. If he can come back; he can be fearless driving to the basket; better than most celtics... Just give him the time;  :)

It really is tough to get that stretch of good to great play from the 06-07 season out of our minds for anyone who followed the team closely that year. He was really fun to watch even though we continued losing.

What has become evident since then is that Tony's playing psyche is so fragile that he can look super confident in his game one night and completely lost the next. No one wants him to get it together more than me but Im not sure this team can give him the consistent playing time to regain that supreme confidence. He has the opportunity to be given a chunk of playing time now for the next 2 months. Let's see how he plays Saturday first.

I've liked the energy Tony has been bringing to the green team since he's been back. I think BBD is going to bring even more energy to that unit. As long as Tony can keep in his role, he'll be fine. Big if though..

In the never ending Tony Allen roller coaster ride, he has the opportunity to really help this team again.  The guy has had so many opportunities, and this really is the perfect situation for him at the moment, with Daniels out.  If he can just do what he does well well, he'd be a major plus for the C's.
Yup

I've made as much fun of TA as anybody, but he had a good game last night and I'm hoping for him to keep it up going ahead.  This stretch with Marquis injured might be his last shot at ever securing a rotation spot in Boston, and I hope he can take advantage of it.

Ditto to all of that.

I'll add, let's hope TA impresses a lot of sucker GM's so that we can get a needed piece come February.

I support him and I don't mind him playing whatever minutes during the regular season but I don't him anywhere near the rotation for the play-offs.

I want TA to succeed.

1) it helps the Celtics on the court when he is force to pay.

2) (and more importantly) it makes him worth more in a trade then just the contract.

But I expect to see the same pattern.  1 to 2 good games with 3 to 4 bad games after.  Repeat pattern.

Tony gave us those few games of excellence a few years ago. Because of this, I still hold out hope.

Yeah it would be quite something if in the next two years he turned into that player that he showed that week when he had 27 (about half on dunks) against the Nuggets. If he could re reach his potential just as Ray and Paul are declining it extends our window at least two more years.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Well, all we really need him to do is play OK until Daniels gets back.  He really isn't going to have a role in the playoffs unless someone gets in foul trouble.

A lot of people are eating crow right about now. Not only did he shutdown Kobe, he outplayed him. Tony gave Kobe a taste of his own medicine. He literally and figuratively took Kobe to school. The '1st Team All NBA defense' had no answer for Tony. This wasn't the first time Tony shutdown Kobe. It was fun to watch. Just happy for Tony.

I've been on the TA bandwagon from day 1.

As long as he continues to play within himself he'll be fine. We certainly will need his production over the next few weeks.

And Stay Focused, TA. No one's asking him to be perfect..just consistent.

i dont mean to start drama but...

where were u in the trade tony threads?...

I will be first to admit that I was all for trading him. But it hasn't just been ONE good game, he's been pretty consistent this season with filling the void of Quis. I personally would have rather seen him out there in crunch time instead of Ray. As soon as Ray came back in, Kobe scored twice. If Tony was in there, he might have scored once, plus a different person would have gotten the last shot(Rondo slashing, KG or Sheed post up shot, or even Tony for ****!) Ice Cold Ray for 3...CLANK!!!
Can't stop, Rondo!

I knew this was coming.

TA isn't as bad as his haters would say, but he's not as good as the TA enthusiasts would have you believe.

TA is an average player, a below average ball handler, an above average slasher, a below average shooter, and an above average defender. His IQ is below average as well.

Tony had a great game against LA, but the above is still true.  I would add that he is decidedly NOT clutch, so as good as he played in the 1st half with Pierce out, it is no wonder he played little in the second.  He showed his strenghts in the first half, slashing and defending, but also had some mistakes with the ball.  Say this, though:  he sure is exciting to watch...never know what will happen.

Unfortunately Doc didn't see it that way.  Down by 1 late in the game, he elected to put in Eddie House and Ray Allen instead of the two guys who had keyed our comeback early in the game with their aggressive driving into the lane.

That's right, go for the 3 point shot when you're down one from the guy that's been cold for the past two months.  Don't give it to the guy that appeared to be scoring at will by driving the lane earlier in the game.

Yeah..TA did have a monster game...my son and I were hi-fiving and everything.

The Block on Kobe was great, too.

Happy for the man to show up once again in a big game. He has been rather steady, in a good way.

And Healthy.
