Tongue-in-cheek at this point ... but he's got a long way to go before I take him off the "Trade Now" list. That's as far as I'm going, (for now). ;) (For additional support, he can always see the trainer).

I am 100% behind Tony Allen.  The Cs need him to win games with Marquis out.

Nice game from Tony last night. I'm not getting overly excited because it was just one game but if he keeps it up, it will be all good for us in the absence of Marquis.

I feel for Tony.   He really has had only 1 month of pain free completely healthy basketball the first month of last year for the last 2 and 1/2 seasons.   He remains it seems very positive out there which is a tribute to him with all the adversity despite some bonehead plays.

I'll say it for the nth time: when healthy and given consistent minutes, Tony Allen is a productive NBA player and decidedly above average

Undoubtedly, TA's still shaking off the rust given his almost year long battle with injuries (torn ankle ligaments, torn thumb ligaments), but last night was a good indication of what he can still do when given the opportunity--be the best player off our bench.

(Before someone says it's only one game (which it is) remember that TA's pre-injury #s last season would make him this year's leading bench scorer.)

Folly. Persist.

I knew this was coming.

TA isn't as bad as his haters would say, but he's not as good as the TA enthusiasts would have you believe.

TA is an average player, a below average ball handler, an above average slasher, a below average shooter, and an above average defender. His IQ is below average as well.

Agree with all that.

Also, as I said on another thread, I'm expecting his annual season-ending injury any day now.

Here is how I support Tony Turnover:

He has faced a lot of adversity, and seems to have grown up and come a long way.

I hope he plays well enough and stays healthy long enough to be tradable for someone we can depend on to be healthy and consistent.  I support him having a long and productive career for someone else.

Watching the game last night I thought to myself several times "Wow, Tony is being pretty quiet, and contributing.... that's the perfect Tony."   I also found myself wondering (kind of assuming) he would get some love on CB today.

We all know of his many mistakes and his flaws as a player, but if he wants to play like he played last night, then he'll be valuable.  His palming/double dribble whatever violation was bad, but what's nice about it is it happened because he was looking for Rondo to give up the ball.  It didn't happen while he was wildly flailing towards the basket.

That's at least a step in the right direction.

i think someone should start a "create a haiku about tony allen" thread.

this would allow but supporters and doubters to express themselves and a new and less repetitive way.

TA was playing good last year, and then got hurt. During the playoffs he was coming RIGHT off of an injury. If he can stay healthy he really is a helpful player.

The threat of his speed on the fast break opened up lanes for KG and Rondo to work. That's something we don't have with Ray and Paul.

I have to say, after the last two games, I feel slightly better about having Tony in there for a few weeks.  I still want him nowhere near the court at the end of games, or in the playoffs when every possession counts, but for a 6-8 week stretch in December and January, I think he should be able to hold down the fort well enough.  While his dumb mistakes are hard enough to watch (you can see all of them coming from a mile away, groaning a second before they actually happen, which makes them 10 times more painful), he does add some energy to the second unit that they were missing, and that comes close to making up for his bumblingness (yes, I made up that word...what of it?).  As long as they have a quick enough hook when he is having one of his terrible games, and don't give him an opportunity to blow a game down the stretch, the Tony Allen experiment could actually work...for a little while anyways.

This is about the most honest response in this thread line…

TA had a solid game last night. He played within himself for the most part even though he had a few normal TA moments. No one argues that if he played like that every night he wouldn't be a solid contributor. TA's issue though is that when he plays within himself and has a good game, he all of a sudden thinks that he is a star and then forces the issue the next few games. Then BAD tony returns. If we can keep "within himself" Tony playing everyone will jump back on his bandwagon. Too much history of the opposite to be very optimistic though.

I love Tony; thats all I can say. I he remains healthy, he will be good. He had a very good drive to the basket; nobody did it better; then he got hurt. If he can come back; he can be fearless driving to the basket; better than most celtics... Just give him the time;  :)
And someday in the midst of time,
When they ask you if you knew me
Remember that you were a friend of mine

I expect that Tony will help provide much needed athleticism and energy. Glad he is back. He looked great last night.
