A lot of you guys are all over me for writing 'I told you so.'
I wrote in the wrong tone.
My support is sad.
I consider Ty Lue a good backup.
Well, I do not consider Lue a good back up and never said he was. I was asking if Ainge and Doc are thinking along those lines. Who is a good backup? Orlando signed Jason Williams. I would have taken a chance on him if he'd sign here. There were others as well.
My support is now in it's 55th year beginning in 1954.
The tone of my writing is what it is. I am not trying to prove anything or be smart. I just was lukewarm with Daniels's signing right from the beginning. I remembered how good he was with Dallas but I admit I had no idea after that how he had played. So, I looked up his profile and saw he was injured every single year and out chunks of times and games. He also was a very terrible 3 pt. shooter who still insisted on shooting them. An excellent ballhandler,
Daniels to me seemed lacking the dribble, speed, and mentality of a true back up point guard, which I consider to be our main need still. Healthy he gives me concerns, and I am still not very keen on House and him together as a tandem. It seems Doc isn't either. Lately he's subbing Rajon to also run the 2nd unit 'cause Daniels and house just aren't effective, enter Rajon.
I told you so might sound like having an attitude, and I apologize if it came across that way. I wrote it though because of my support for the team and my fears that his injury history in the end might bite back at Danny.
I am disappointed as well with Tony Allen, but not ready to give up on him. I hope he plays well enough for Doc to begin to increase his minutes. He still has a load of talent from what I saw last night but yeah, he does make mistakes.
Lastly, my concerns with the point guard position are about playoff time and what good teams can do defensively to a pg who has a weakness of ballhandling or dribble or playmaking. As seen with the first unit it is Rondo really who drives this team. Without Rajon they are dead. If he goes down, Ainge has nobody, that is nobody again so it is clear, who can even remotely begin to run the team. Daniels to me is not the right guy.
