Just saw that on the Celtics.com Twitter :

"Marquis Daniels had surgery this morning to repair a torn ligament in his left thumb. No time table on his return. Celtics.com for more..."

Was it planned? It sounds like Marquis will be out longer than expect (a week initially). I hope he will heal fast and well.

Bummer.  He'll be out a few weeks, I would imagine.  I guess we'll see more TA and Scals...

just saw this, time to bring walker up and send giddens down
i'd rather walker busting his butt and making young guy mistakes than tony making 5 or 6 year pro mistakes that shouldn't be made at this point
(and walker is 6'6")

It looks like Marquis will be out 6 to 8 weeks... :'(

Like Jeff said on the frontpage, it means late january in the best case scenario, and early February as the realistic one.

I think Danny will make a trade during Marquis' absence.

Marquis was bound to get injured at some point.   The timing is not great, but OK.  Clearly, the C's bench has not come together and Marquis is a key bench player.  To lose him now means more instability on the bench.  However, the starters are getting more solid by the day and this is actually a good time to get TA some run (in time for trade deadline perhaps giving him some value beyond the expiring contract) and maybe bring up Bill Walker for some real minutes.   Plus, with the timing of his return, he should be 100% at playoff time and maybe injury-free for the remainder of the season after missing his requisite 25 games or so.

I tried to tel you guys in the preseason that he was injury prone. Here it is again. Now what if Rondo gets hurt for a small stint of time? Who plays pg on this team then? I still would have preferred a standard backup pg who can play the position well. The only reason we win so much is because of Rajon Rondo. As he goes, so goes the team. Thge entire club just humps and pumps according to Rondo's game. Without him we are an automobile without it's engine, without it's transmission, without a driver. Marquis Daniels, Marquis Daniels. Who we really need is a decent backup pg. Ty Lue ?

There are a lot of folks on this blog that tried to convince Danny to add another wing to this team in the offseason due to Marquis injury history -- a player like Keith Bogans.

The Cs need to read the blog more!

After seeing Bogans playing in San Antonio...I have no problem with Danny passing on him.

It's time for Billy Walker to step up and finally contribute to this team..that may be a pipe dream though.

And there were folks on this blog who tried to convince Danny to add another PG and others who tried to convince Danny to add another big.  I think we have 'I told you so' covered.

Just thougt about it but Marquis probably won't be there for the game against the Lakers... Too bad, I wanted to see how he would defend on Kobe.

So you knew he would tear a ligament in his thumb eh? Can you give me the winning lottery numbers too? Sorry for being smug but Greg Oden is injury prone. Severely jamming your finger could happen to anybody.

What if we signed the backup PG that you wanted so badly (like who by the way) and he did the same thing...and then Rondo got hurt too.

Guys get hurt, its part of the game. To say I told you so is rediculous.

It will be painful but I say throw Tony in there and give him all of Quis' minutes. Tell him the job is his and to run with it. Maybe he will play with some confidence that has been absent for the past 2.5 years. Tony is not a guy that can play effectively looking over his shoulder. I am not sure he is a guy who can play effectively at all anymore but maybe Doc can reach him at this point. Okay, Ill take the green glasses off now.
