Milestone Update: Penultimate Edition

Since the last post:

Ray Allen has passed Bob Pettit for 29th all-time in scoring.  He is just 2 points away from passing Walt Bellamy for 28th.

Paul Pierce passed Rickey Green for 48th all-time in steals.  He is currently tied with Ron Artest for the spot, and needs just 3 more to pass Charles Oakley for 47th.

On a team note, the Boston Celtics clinched a 3rd consecutive 50 win season for the first time since '89/'90-'91/'92.  Congrats guys!

Next up:  Here's a list of milestones for the rest of the regular season - some are no longer achievable but I'll update em anyway:

KG:
27 rebounds from passing Charles Oakley for 19th all-time.

Pierce:
129 points from becoming the 36th player in league history to score at least 20,000 points.
3 steals from passing Charles Oakley for 48th all-time.

Ray Allen:
2 points from passing Walt Bellamy for 28th in all-time scoring.
60 more points away from being the 28th player in league history to reach 21,000 points.

And now...

PERKWATCH!

Perk's run at the team record for FG% in a season, currently held by Cedric Maxwell, and a first-place finish in the NBA for the season are going down to the wire.

Dwight Howard (1st in league): 60.8
Max's record %: 60.9
Perk's current %: 60.3

Unfortunately, it looks like Perk will finish just short of both the team record and the league lead.  He still has an outside shot but it's not looking good.

Next up, our other young guy stars in:

THE RAJE CAGE!!

Rajon Rondo has broken the team single-season assists and steals record!

Rondo also is a near-lock to break the single-season assists per game record, and to lead the NBA in steals.  I'll be keeping up with those chases, and tracking Rajon's separation on the records he's already got.

APG, single season:

Rajon Rondo: 9.8 apg, 773 total
Bob Cousy '59-60: 9.5 apg, 715 total

Rajon needs just 5 assists in the next 2 games (assuming he plays both) to clinch the APG record.

Steals:  Rondo has broken the single-seaon team record, set by Rick Fox in 96-97, and is a near-lock to become the first Celtic to lead the NBA in steals.

Rajon Rondo
: 2.38 spg, 188 total
Rick Fox, '96-97: 167 total
Monta Ellis: 2.25 spg (2nd in league)

Let's go Rajon, finish these off!

McHale:17,335 points

Finley:17,298 points

Yeah, I was looking for a Finley one but I didn't think he could get there this season.  Got a shot though.

Yeah it's a stretch for him to get there.

But I figure with 3 games left, and most of the starters probably seeing a large decrease in minutes. there's more opportunity for finley to get baskets, with increased minutes.

Michael Finley needs 8 more steals for 1000 in his career.  ;D

Think he'll reach it with the C's?

Marcus Landry needs 6 more points to get to 50 for his career. Think he will get there with the C's?

Sadly...no

LOL well played. Thanks so much for the laugh TP

And, sadly, he didn't, as he was waived after playing less than 15 minutes total.

Paul Pierce recently passed Hal Greer on the career points list to move into 29th place in NBA history.  His 28 points tonight leave him 115 behind Larry Bird for 28th on the list and 2nd in Celtics history.

TP, that is quite an accomplishment for Paul.  He deserves it.
