Michael Finley needs 8 more steals for 1000 in his career.  ;D

Think he'll reach it with the C's?

Marcus Landry needs 6 more points to get to 50 for his career. Think he will get there with the C's?

Sadly...no

LOL well played. Thanks so much for the laugh TP

If not mistaken, Rondo had tied a team record with 7 straight games with double digit assists, or with 11+ assists... can't remember which. It was broken last night due to a blowout.

Why isn't this thread stickied?

Streak records are really hard to keep track of, especially since I only update this every 3-4 games or so.  If I can find the record I'll edit it into the last post though.

If not mistaken he's tied with Tiny Archibald. They mentioned it either during the last game or the one before that at some point.

Pretty minor, but Rasheed Wallace passed everybody's favorite, Antoine Walker, for 95th in all-time scoring.

Holy crap.  I can't believe Sheed was ever behind Antoine in career scoring or that he was that far down on the list.

Antoine was a scorer... and there was a point where the celtics were above .500 with him as the #1 option.

Sheed is natural 3rd option. Even though if he posted up twice as much he's be a first ballot HOF guy.

Rajon Rondo is 92 assists away from breaking Bob Cousy's all-time Celtics record for assists in a single season. If Rondo gets just 5.5 assists per game in the remaining 17 games, the record is his.

I was away all week for Spring Break - here's a fresh update:

Milestone Update: Since the last post:

Paul Pierce passed Walter Davis to move up to 39th in all-time scoring.  Next up is Clifford Robinson, 22 pts away.

KG became the 23rd player in league history to score at least 22,000 points.  He also became the 35th player to accumulate at least 1500 steals.

Ray Allen became the second player in league history to hit 2400 threes.  Third place (Dale Ellis) has just over 1700.  For comparison, Larry Bird finished with 649 career 3s.  Ray is still 151 behind Reggie Miller for 1st place.

Next up:  Here's the closest ones for each guy.

KG:
152 points from passing Clyde Drexler for 22nd all-time in scoring.
121 rebounds from passing Charles Oakley for 19th all-time.
6 steals from passing Reggie Miller for 34th all-time.

Pierce:
22 points from passing Cliff Robinson for 39th all-time.
7 steals from passing Quinn Buckner for 49th all-time.

Ray Allen
:
8 points from passing The Iceman for 31st all-time.

And now...

PERKWATCH!

As you may or may not know, Perk is making a serious run at the team record for FG% in a season, currently held by Cedric Maxwell.  I'll keep track of his progress here, as well as his trek to finish first in the NBA for the season...

Dwight Howard (1st in league): 61.1
Perk's current %: 61.0
Max's record %: 60.9

That Milwaukee game hurt quite a bit - Perk has fallen behind Dwight Howard for first in the league, but is still barely ahead of Max.

Perk needs 31 more FG makes to qualify for the record (this is important as he would've had the record 2 years ago, but didn't make enough shots to qualify).  He is well on pace to do so, however.

Next up, our other young guy stars in:

THE RAJE CAGE!!

Our own feisty little buddy Rajon Rondo is making a run at some team records and the league lead in a few categories.  Let's run them down:

APG, single season:

Rajon Rondo: 9.9 apg
Bob Cousy '59-60: 9.5 apg

Total Assists, single season:

Rajon Rondo: 624 assists
Bob Cousy '59-60: 715 assists

Steals:  Rondo has a chance to both break the single-seaon team record, set by Rick Fox in 96-97, and to become the first Celtic to lead the NBA in steals.

Rajon Rondo
: 2.38 spg
Rick Fox: 2.2 spg
Monta Ellis: 2.17 spg (2nd in league)

Let's go Rajon!

Milestone Update: Since the last post:

A big couple of weeks for records - let's run 'em all down:

Rajon Rondo set the C's all-time record for steals in a season!!  Congrats Rajon!  And don't let the door hit ya on the way out, Rick Fox, you've always been a Laker to me.

Rondo also set a career high for assists with 18 in the same game.

Paul Pierce passed Cliff Robinson, Bernard King, and John Stockton to move up to 36th in all-time scoring.  Next up is Tom Chambers, 321 pts away.  We'll have to wait for next season for this one I think.

Pierce also broke the immortal John Havlicek's team record for most career FT makes.  Not a huge record, but anytime you get the career record in anything for this franchise, it's impressive.

Finally, Pierce passed Quinn Buckner and now stands 49th on the all-time steals list, just 6 behind Rickey Green

KG passed Reggie Miller on the all-time steals list to move into a tie for 33rd.  He needs just one more to move ahead of Dr. J

Ray Allen passed The Iceman and David Robinson and is now in 30th place on the all-time scoring list.  Next up is the great Bob Pettit, 65 points away.

Next up:  Here's the closest ones for each guy.

KG:
45 points from passing Clyde Drexler for 22nd all-time in scoring.
66 rebounds from passing Charles Oakley for 19th all-time.
1 steal from passing Dr. J for 33rd all-time.

Pierce:
271 points from becoming the 36th player in league history to score at least 20,000 points.  It's possible he makes it this year but unlikely.
6 steals from passing Rickey Green for 48th all-time.

Ray Allen
:
65 points from passing Bob Pettit for 29th all-time.

And now...

PERKWATCH!

As you may or may not know, Perk is making a serious run at the team record for FG% in a season, currently held by Cedric Maxwell.  I'll keep track of his progress here, as well as his trek to finish first in the NBA for the season...

Dwight Howard (1st in league): 61.0
Max's record %: 60.9
Perk's current %: 60.3

Perk has fallen off the pace, but there's still time to recover.  Let's hope the big guy can put it together when he's reactivated.

Next up, our other young guy stars in:

THE RAJE CAGE!!

Our own feisty little buddy Rajon Rondo is making a run at some team records and the league lead in a few categories.  Let's run them down:

APG, single season:

Rajon Rondo: 9.8 apg
Bob Cousy '59-60: 9.5 apg

Total Assists, single season:

Rajon Rondo: 696 assists
Bob Cousy '59-60: 715 assists

He's a virtual lock to break the total assists record at this point, and has an excellent chance for the average as well.

Steals:  Rondo has broken the single-seaon team record, set by Rick Fox in 96-97, and still can become the first Celtic to lead the NBA in steals.

Rajon Rondo
: 2.39 spg, 170 total
Rick Fox, '96-97: 167 total
Monta Ellis: 2.25 spg (2nd in league)

Let's go Rajon!

Thanks for the updates fairweather fan, always well done and interesting, TP!

Congrats to Rajon and Paul for their respective records, quite impressive.

Funny to see that KG is 33rd on the all-time steals list while Pierce is only 49th, quite surprising to say the least, considering their positions!

I hope Perk gets Max's record, he has fallen a lot from the FG% he had earlier in the season but he still has a lot of games to play so, if his injury doesn't make him struggle too much (I clearly hope it won't), it's within reach.

Also, do you know who leads the C's in steals on the all-time list of the franchise? I wonder how many steals are needed to break that record, because it looks like Rajon has a shot at it, especially if he plays his entire career in green!

It's a shame you feel that way about him.  He wasn't the greatest player while he was here but he gave his full effort every game and was incredibly underappreciated as a defender while here.  He would have played his entire career in green if he had his choice.  He only went to the Lakers because the C's didn't want him to stick around at that time.  I for one was disappointed to see him go.  He could have been a good mentor to the young players in the early Pitino days if he'd been kept around.

LOL I felt the same way and said meaner things after I heard he sent Rondo a text saying he had more rings. TP for the updates and the chuckle.
Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

Yeah, I was young when Fox played for us, and I know it was strictly front office incompetence that let him leave.  But I spent my formative years watching him rack up titles with the Lakers, and that's what's stuck with me unfortunately.

Milestone Update:

Since the last post:

Rajon Rondo has broken the C's all-time record for assists in a season!!!
He adds this to the steals record he's already clinched.  This sometimes gets lost in a disappointing regular season and his still considerable potential, but Rondo is having one of all-time great seasons by a Celtic PG, and should be applauded for it.

And just to be fair to Rick Fox, don't let the door hit ya, Bob Cousy, you'll always be a Cincinnati Royals player-coach for 7 games in 1969-70 to me  ;D

KG has passed Clyde Drexler for 22nd in all-time scoring.  He now needs only 938 more points to pass Elgin Baylor for 21st all-time!  See ya in 2011, big guy.

KG has also passed Dr. J for 33rd on the all-time steals list.  He needs 10 more steals to pass Kendall Gill for 32nd.

Rasheed Wallace has officially moved into a tie with Allen Iverson for 50th all-time in 3pters made.  He is, however, also tied with Joe Johnson, so he probably won't stay in the Top 50 for long.

Next up:  Here's a list of achievable milestones for the rest of the regular season:

KG:
36 rebounds from passing Charles Oakley for 19th all-time.

Pierce:
195 points from becoming the 36th player in league history to score at least 20,000 points.  It's possible he makes it this year but unlikely.
2 steals from passing Rickey Green for 48th all-time.

Ray Allen
:
7 points from passing Bob Pettit for 29th all-time.
126 more points away from being the 28th player in league history to reach 21,000 points.
Also, a neat little milestone: Ray has officially crossed the threshold where he has hit more 3s this year than he'll need next season to break the all-time record.  He is still 127 3s from breaking Reggie Miller's record.

And now...

PERKWATCH!

Perk's run at the team record for FG% in a season, currently held by Cedric Maxwell, and a first-place finish in the NBA for the season are going down to the wire.

Dwight Howard (1st in league): 60.4
Max's record %: 60.9
Perk's current %: 60.4

The good news is, Perk's officially qualified for the league title!  He now has 302 FGM, a career high.  The bad news is he's behind in both categories.  But he's still got a great shot at the league lead, and can catch Max with a good run.

Next up, our other young guy stars in:

THE RAJE CAGE!!

Rajon Rondo has broken the team single-season assists and steals record!

Rondo also has an excellent shot to break the single-season assists per game record, and to lead the NBA in steals.  I'll be keeping up with those chases, and tracking Rajon's separation on the records he's already got.

APG, single season:

Rajon Rondo: 9.8 apg
Bob Cousy '59-60: 9.5 apg

Total Assists, single season:

Rajon Rondo: 738 assists
Bob Cousy '59-60: 715 assists

Steals:  Rondo has broken the single-seaon team record, set by Rick Fox in 96-97, and still can become the first Celtic to lead the NBA in steals.

Rajon Rondo
: 2.43 spg, 182 total
Rick Fox, '96-97: 167 total
Monta Ellis: 2.25 spg (2nd in league)

Let's go Rajon!
