Milestone Update: Since the last post:
Rajon Rondo has broken the C's all-time record for assists in a season!!! He adds this to the steals record he's already clinched. This sometimes gets lost in a disappointing regular season and his still considerable potential, but Rondo is having one of all-time great seasons by a Celtic PG, and should be applauded for it.
And just to be fair to
Rick Fox, don't let the door hit ya,
Bob Cousy, you'll always be a Cincinnati Royals player-coach for 7 games in 1969-70 to me
KG has passed
Clyde Drexler for 22nd in all-time scoring. He now needs only 938 more points to pass
Elgin Baylor for 21st all-time! See ya in 2011, big guy.
KG has also passed
Dr. J for 33rd on the all-time steals list. He needs 10 more steals to pass
Kendall Gill for 32nd.
Rasheed Wallace has officially moved into a tie with
Allen Iverson for 50th all-time in 3pters made. He is, however, also tied with
Joe Johnson, so he probably won't stay in the Top 50 for long.
Next up: Here's a list of achievable milestones for the rest of the regular season:
KG:
36 rebounds from passing
Charles Oakley for 19th all-time.
Pierce:
195 points from becoming the 36th player in league history to score at least 20,000 points. It's possible he makes it this year but unlikely.
2 steals from passing
Rickey Green for 48th all-time.
Ray Allen:
7 points from passing
Bob Pettit for 29th all-time.
126 more points away from being the 28th player in league history to reach 21,000 points.
Also, a neat little milestone: Ray has officially crossed the threshold where he has hit more 3s this year than he'll need next season to break the all-time record. He is still 127 3s from breaking
Reggie Miller's record.
And now...
PERKWATCH!Perk's run at the team record for FG% in a season, currently held by
Cedric Maxwell, and a first-place finish in the NBA for the season are going down to the wire.
Dwight Howard (1st in league): 60.4
Max's record %: 60.9
Perk's current %: 60.4
The good news is, Perk's officially qualified for the league title! He now has 302 FGM, a career high. The bad news is he's behind in both categories. But he's still got a great shot at the league lead, and can catch Max with a good run.
Next up, our other young guy stars in:
THE RAJE CAGE!!Rajon Rondo has broken the team single-season assists
and steals record!
Rondo also has an excellent shot to break the single-season assists per game record, and to lead the NBA in steals. I'll be keeping up with those chases, and tracking Rajon's separation on the records he's already got.
APG, single season:Rajon Rondo: 9.8 apg
Bob Cousy '59-60: 9.5 apg Total Assists, single season:Rajon Rondo: 738 assists
Bob Cousy '59-60: 715 assists Steals: Rondo has broken the single-seaon team record, set by
Rick Fox in 96-97, and still can become the first Celtic to lead the NBA in steals.
Rajon Rondo: 2.43 spg, 182 total
Rick Fox, '96-97: 167 total
Monta Ellis: 2.25 spg (2nd in league)Let's go Rajon!
