Rough week for the fellas, but the milestones keep on keepin on...

Milestone Update: Since the last post:

KG has passed Larry Bird for 24th all-time in scoring.  Kind of bittersweet to see Larry get passed, and sadder to know that around this time next year Dirk will knock him out of the top 25 for good, but so be it.  Next up: Gary Payton, 22 points away.

KG also passed another great C, Dennis Johnson, for 35th all-time in steals.

Next up:  Here's the closest ones for each guy.

KG:
22 pts shy of passing Gary Payton for 23rd all-time.
17 rebounds from passing Dennis Rodman for 20th all-time.
9 blocks from passing Elvin Hayes for 19th all-time.
28 steals from passing Reggie Miller for 34th all-time.

Pierce:
85 points from passing Terry Cummings for 40th all-time.
2 steals from passing TR Dunn and moving into the Top 50 all-time.

Ray Allen:
115 points from passing Mitch Richmond for 31st all-time.

And now...

PERKWATCH!

As you may or may not know, Perk is making a serious run at the team record for FG% in a season, currently held by Cedric Maxwell.  I'll keep track of his progress here, as well as his trek to finish first in the NBA for the season..

Perk's current %: 62.5
Max's record %: 60.9
Dwight Howard (2nd in league): 59.9

Perk is slipping a bit but we all know he can get there - go Perk!

Perk needs 88 more FG makes to qualify for the record (this is important as he would've had the record 2 years ago, but didn't make enough shots to qualify).  He is well on pace to do so, however.

All-Star Update: Let's hope we can get to some win milestones over the next 2 months.

Milestone Update: Since the last post:

KG has passed Gary Payton for 23rd all-time in scoring.  Next up: Clyde Drexler, 360 points away.  He also passed Dennis Rodman and entered the top 20 in all-time rebounds.  Next up is Charles Oakley, 239 rebounds away. Won't update either of these in the main post til he gets a lot closer.

Paul Pierce passed TR Dunn and entered the Top 50 in all-time steals.  Next up is Quinn Buckner, 20 steals away.  Paul also has now made 1 more 3pter than Michael Finley, and sits in 14th place.  Finley is still active but Paul is hitting 3s at a greater clip, so this lead is probably more or less permanent.

Next up:  Here's the closest ones for each guy.

KG:
8 blocks from passing Elvin Hayes for 19th all-time.
24 steals from passing Reggie Miller for 34th all-time.

Pierce:
57 points from passing Terry Cummings for 40th all-time.
20 steals from passing Quinn Buckner for 49th all-time.

Ray Allen is still a Celtic though I haven't checked ESPN.com in the last 15 minutes or so, so who knows.  Anyway, he's now 52 points from passing Mitch Richmond for 31st all-time.

And now...

PERKWATCH!

As you may or may not know, Perk is making a serious run at the team record for FG% in a season, currently held by Cedric Maxwell.  I'll keep track of his progress here, as well as his trek to finish first in the NBA for the season..

Perk's current %: 61.4
Max's record %: 60.9
Dwight Howard (2nd in league): 60.1

Perk is slipping a bit but we all know he can get there - go Perk!

Perk needs 79 more FG makes to qualify for the record (this is important as he would've had the record 2 years ago, but didn't make enough shots to qualify).  He is well on pace to do so, however.

Not likely, there are 7 active players (Nash, Terry, Lewis, Billups, Kidd, Stojakovic, Allen) in front of him.  I can see him retiring in the Top 10 but Top 5 would be a very tall order.

Nice job the last few games, fellas!

Milestone Update: Since the last post:

Ray Allen (still green, baby!) passed Mitch Richmond for 31st place all-time.  Next up, the Iceman, George Gervin, 203 points away.

Pretty minor, but Rasheed Wallace passed everybody's favorite, Antoine Walker, for 95th in all-time scoring.

Next up:  Here's the closest ones for each guy.

KG:
126 points from becoming the 23rd player in league history to score 22,000.
9 rebounds from becoming the 20th player to grab 12,000 rebounds.
2 blocks from passing Elvin Hayes for 19th all-time.
23 steals from passing Reggie Miller for 34th all-time.

Pierce:
20 points from passing Terry Cummings for 40th all-time.
18 steals from passing Quinn Buckner for 49th all-time.

Making his first appearance here, Rajon Rondo is just 5 points away from 3000 for his career.

And now...

PERKWATCH!

As you may or may not know, Perk is making a serious run at the team record for FG% in a season, currently held by Cedric Maxwell.  I'll keep track of his progress here, as well as his trek to finish first in the NBA for the season..

Perk's current %: 61.0
Max's record %: 60.9
Dwight Howard (2nd in league): 60.3

It's getting really tight now - step it up Perkules!

BTW, Basketball-reference lets people sponsor player pages and put a note of their choosing on there.  Here's what's on Perk's:

"Kendrick Perkins is a master of setting moving screens and jumping over the back of other players to get rebounds. How he doesn't foul out of every game is amazing."

Can't believe somebody spent 20 bucks just to dis on Perk.

Perk needs 70 more FG makes to qualify for the record (this is important as he would've had the record 2 years ago, but didn't make enough shots to qualify).  He is well on pace to do so, however.

What about Rondo watch?
Average all-time Celtics high 9,7 asists (Cousy 9,5 in 1959/60)
Also average all-time Celtics high 2,5 steals (Fox 2,2 in 1996/97) and could be first Celtics NBA leader in steals.
And if Pierce end his slump can break House all-time Celtics 3p% record (43,9 - 44,4 %)

Thanks for the updates, fairweatherfan! TP for you and for davorceltics, too, let's hope Rajon can get these records at the end of the season, I don't see why he wouldn't keep it up at this pace, pretty amazing records to be broken (or created).

Excellent points, TP for the info.  I'll add them into the next update (probably sometime after the Cleveland game).

Looks like the '08 style C's are poking their heads up more and more often.  Now let's see some consistency!

Milestone Update: Since the last post:

Paul Pierce passed Terry Cummings to move into the Top 40 in all-time scoring.  Next up is Walter Davis, 40 pts away.

KG became the 20th player in league history to grab at least 12,000 rebounds.  He also passed Elvin Hayes and is 19th all-time in blocked shots.  Next up is Theo Ratliff, who is 157 blocks away and still active, so KG won't be moving up this list for quite awhile.

Rajon Rondo scored his 3000th point.  Not nearly as impressive as some of the other stuff here, but still, good job Rajon!

Ray Allen unfortunately got passed by Dirk Nowitzki and is back down to 32nd all-time in scoring.   :(

Next up:  Here's the closest ones for each guy.

KG:
33 points from becoming the 23rd player in league history to score 22,000.
15 steals from passing Reggie Miller for 34th all-time.

Pierce:
40 points from passing Walter Davis for 39th all-time.
12 steals from passing Quinn Buckner for 49th all-time.

Ray Allen
:
102 points from passing The Iceman for 31st all-time (assuming Dirk gets there first).
He's also 1 3pter away from becoming the second player to hit 2400 threes.  Third place (Dale Ellis) has just over 1700.  Staggering number there.

Sheeeeed
needs just 4 more 3pt makes to move into the Top 50 all-time.  Let's hope no one tells him.

And now...

PERKWATCH!

Perk's current %: 61.6
Max's record %: 60.9
Dwight Howard (2nd in league): 60.3

Perk's gotten a little separation back...go Perk!

Perk needs 50 more FG makes to qualify for the record (this is important as he would've had the record 2 years ago, but didn't make enough shots to qualify).  He is well on pace to do so, however.

And now, by popular demand (from 1 guy) we introduce a new feature:

THE RAJE CAGE!!

Our own feisty little buddy Rajon Rondo is making a run at some team records and the league lead in a few categories.  Let's run them down:

Assists:  Rajon is hoping to break the legendary Bob Cousy's team single season record, set in the 59-60 season.

Rajon Rondo: 9.9 apg
Bob Cousy: 9.5 apg

Steals:  Rondo has a chance to both break the single-seaon team record, set by Rick Fox in 96-97, and to become the first Celtic to lead the NBA in steals.

Rajon Rondo
: 2.5 spg
Rick Fox: 2.2 spg
Monta Ellis: 2.17 spg (2nd in league)

Let's go Rajon!

Michael Finley needs 8 more steals for 1000 in his career.  ;D

Think he'll reach it with the C's?
Yup

And after going 5/7 in last two games Paul Pierce is shooting 44,8% from 3 point land. Eddie House sets Celtics record of 44,4% last season.
In one season we could get Celtics all-time season leaders in asists (Rondo), steals (Rondo), FG% (Perkins) and 3pFG% (Pierce).
Nice, but the only number that matthers is #18.

Sadly...no

TP for keeping us updated. The old hands I expect great things from but I'm very proud of Rajon and Perk. Hope they both break the records they are in the running for.

I'm sure I read a quote about Maxwell telling Perk everyday he hasn't gotten the FG record yet. Prove him wrong Perk.
Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

If not mistaken, Rondo had tied a team record with 7 straight games with double digit assists, or with 11+ assists... can't remember which. It was broken last night due to a blowout.
