Miller is a good player, but if he's complaining about his role in Portland and is becoming a locker room distraction, why would it be different here?

If Portland decides to trade Andre Miller they'll trade him for talent not expiring contracts.

Plus I don't think they have the roster space for a 3 for 1 type deal.

Exactly.  It'd probably be far worse here, where he'd be lucky to find 15 mpg.

Plus, while Miller would certainly be a talent upgrade, too much is being made of the backup PG spot here.  Sure, Eddie House isn't Rondo, but no one we get will be.  Plus, we're  talking about 15 mpg or so during the regular season, and probably closer to 5-10 mpg come the playoffs.  Who really cares?

  • Rondo = Good
The Blazers can (and probably will) get a lot more than that for Miller.  A LOT more.  Miller is a legitimate starting PG and is better than a lot of the point guards that currently start in the league.  The only glaring limitation to his game is his lack of a 3 pt shot (which would prevent him from going to a team like Orlando).

I bet the Lakers would love to find a way to trade for Miller.  They're looking to trade a couple of their bench players anyway.  With Oden out for the season I wouldn't even be that surprised if the Blazers traded with the Lakers.

yep he needs more minutes than he can get on the Cs. he could never play on the floor with Rondo since neither can shoot outside 4 feet.

Which LAL doesn't have to offer. Especially since they already have no roster spaces.

I wonder if the Magic will look into trading for him.  They could absorb his contract with their trade exception, and they currently need a PG.  Miller also is big enough that he could play next to Nelson when he returns.

Maybe.  Though Miller's poor shooting may throw off their whole spread-the-floor-around-Howard approach.  Plus, who would they give up?

As for us, again, if Miller's upset in Portland, he's going to be more upset here.

That'd add a lot of salary, the Magic already are paying quite a lot to backups who don't play much.

If they add Miller they'll definitely be looking to move Gortat.

Really? If they wish, they could offer Josh Powell, Jordan Farmar, and an assortment of picks. They can also offer cap relief in Morrison's expiring contract.

I am not much of a trade junkie, but it looks to me like the Lakers have plenty to offer, should they really want to pursue Miller.

Well, given the Oden injury, perhaps that makes even more sense for the deal.  Gortat would be perfect for Portland, because he would be big this year with Oden hurt, and could eventually take Przybilla's spot.
