Nick, how about this:

Chicago Trades:

Ty Thomas (to Boston)
John Salmons (to Boston)

Chicago Receives:

Carlos Boozer

Utah Trades:

Carlos Boozer (to Chicago)
Andrei Kirilenko (to Boston)

Utah Receives:

Ray Allen
Big Baby
Scal

Boston Trades:

Ray Allen (to Utah)
Big Baby (to Utah)
Scal (to Utah)

Boston Receives:

Andrei Kirilenko
John Salmons
Ty Thomas

This works under cap and BYC rules. Isn’t everyone happy here? The only way you say no is if you buy that Utah wants to keep Boozer to keep open the sign and trade this offseason. I refute this since they’d have about $11mil in cap space under this deal anyway – I’d rather sign a FA or two than beg teams that may or may not want Boozer for pieces.

Well, if we are giving up Ray, I would want Hinrich and Thomas not Salmons.

Heinrich at the 2? Anyway, either way, it's a pretty sensible large trade, no?

I would probably hold out on getting all 3, if we were giving up Allen.

No, no Kirilenko.  If the C's were to get Thomas, Kirilenko would be redundant.

I would consider Ray and filler for Hinrich, Salmons and Thomas.

For sure. We would get younger without losing talent. Hinrich can run an offense, Thomas is developing some sort of jumpshot and is great weak side shot blocker, and Salmons can slash or shoot(younger smaller Pierce?) Sign me up.
Can't stop, Rondo!

Yes but ---- Utah would likely rather have those three than Ray anyway. So not sure it makes sense.

These trades sound good and all, but we are one of the best teams in the league right now and still need to come together some more. If we don't win it all this year maybe you make a trade.

John Salmons struggles defensively with quickness (he's decently quick for his size, but he's big). He also needs to put the ball on the floor before shooting and tends to hurt the team offensive flow. His last season in terms of shooting is also starting to look like a fluke - and this team can't afford another backcourt player who struggles to shot from the behind the line.

The Celtics would be way worse with Salmons replacing Allen.

Kirilenko is the kind of 3/4 this team could use (he's kind of overqualified). Quick, athletic, solid on the boards. However, the minutes available for Kirilenko as a 4th big/ wing backup wouldn't make up for the loss of quality coming from the Allen<->Salmons swap.

In this scenario (Kirilenko joining the roster) Thomas wouldn't break the rotation barring injuries, so I'm not sure what's the point of getting him.

In any case, there's 0 chance Utah does that deal. They aren't trading talented players for cap relief. I also doubt the Bulls would trade Salmons for a 6 months rental of Boozer.

Yep it's one of the worst in the league. He's not even in the rotation in dallas and he has a full MLE deal with 4 years remaining. Yikes!
