Before Monta Ellis(notes)  started on his scoring tear, Philly had hope that his issues with Golden State might inspire the Warriors to take a chance on Brand, but that isn’t happening. Sacramento had some interest in center Samuel Dalembert(notes),  another contract Philly wants to shed, but couldn’t work out a three-way deal with Boston.

Who you we be offering up in the scenario? Seems like there is some real smoke to the fire of us wanting Nocioni.

I don't see how he fits with this team though.

Last year I thought Nocioni would be perfect but the more I see him play, the less I want him.  I have no idea why anyone would be interested in aquiring Dalembert, either.

I can't see any of the three teams wanting any of the players whose names have been mentioned in this thread, especially the ones they already have.

I have no doubt that Philly has talked to every team in the league in an attempt to dump Brand.  That's probably how the rumor came about.

Now, no.  The combination of Wallace and Daniels has covered that hole in the bench.  Now, would be nothing more then a monsterly over priced luxury.

That was the report about a month ago; we would have been giving up Scal, Tony, and Giddens, and receiving Nocioni.  Sacramento would have been getting Dalembert, and Philly would have received expiring contracts. 

At the time, it was reported that the Celts weren't really interested.

I think Noc would actually be a good addition, though perhaps not good enough to justify adding his contract to the C's payroll.  Daniels is 6'6'', 200 lbs and is really more of a 2, while Noc is 6'7'', 225 and much more of a three.  Noc is also more of a physical player and has more of an attacking mentality when he's in the game.

I would not give up Big Baby or any of the rotation players for Noc and, frankly, the one player Ainge should really be looking at acquiring is probably Tyrus Thomas.  It would be great to bring him in as an athletic equalizer against younger teams.

Very true.  Noc might be a nice addition, but not where we need it this year, and the contract is horrible for a backup role player.  And trading BBD, our younger, quicker big (believe it or not), would make us worse.  Not sure TT is the guy, but we should be considering quick, athletic players that can defend...and, of course, a backup PG.

title of this thread is misleading. these talks were over before they started like a month ago.

I actually wanted him before the slump, but when they started struggling, I started rethinking it, because it looked like Garnett was worse than I had hoped, and we needed more athleticism than Nocioni could provide.  Now that Garnett seems to be getting stronger, I think Nocioni would be a good fit again.

But either way, I don't think the C's are interested in his contract.

I've always questioned whether Noc could help us defensively, myself.

He seems to have a knack for scoring and he has 3pt range I suppose.

His salary seems a bit much to take on, though.

If you check my posts when this first came up, I didn't want him then either.

I'm not a big fan of him, but Nocioni would be a good fit - the team is struggling to cover small, mobile 4s that play from the perimeter and Cleveland (James)/Los Angeles(Odom)/Orlando(Lewis) have that type of player; he'd also complement Daniels very well (adding versatily in terms of size/shooting to the wing rotation) - but he's very expensive.

Disregarding salaries and contract length, I'd much rather have Nocioni than Davis/Scalabrine/filler. The financial aspect of the equation makes me think that the better approach right now is to wait and see though.
