Bell and a pick to NJ for Yi Jianlian and filler (Sean Williams?).

Jersey clears even more cap space for next summer. Yi gets a nice change of scenery, relocating to the Bay Area, one of the largest Chinese population centers in the country.

Yi played well before the injury.  I dont think the Nets will look to move him

Have to confess, wasn't watching him. He'll probably get a fair shake from Kiki and Del.

Still, wouldn't NJ would rather have a 1st and the cap space than Yi?
I don't think so, they're going to have enough cap space as it is for their plans. At least I think they will.

Nope. They don't need to get younger.
Younger does not mean worse.

GS's pick will be a lottery pick.  If GS is foolish enough to toss in a 1st rounder in that deal, NJ should hop on it.  They'll get someone who should turn into a contributor fairly quickly picking that high in the selection process (provided they make a smart pick).

OKC's prime talent is all young and look how fast they're progressing into a playoff team.  Move to Brooklyn, lure Lebron/Bosh/Wade and draft 2 lottery picks --- added to Harris, Lee and Lopez -- they just made themselves a playoff team.

$4 million extra cap space could mean the difference between signing one or two max-contract marquee free agents.

If ditching Yi means they could land both Joe Johnson and Chris Bosh, I'm sure Rod Thorn would drive Yi to the airport.
They can easily do that in the offseason though, no need to jump the gun now. Especially when you can try and convince both max players to take a bit less first.

They have no interest in trading Yi because of the money he makes the franchise.

And meanwhile look at their cap structure. Assume they cut Nahara and Dooling this summer (per Roy's spreadsheet each is only gauranteed $500K next year). Why do they need to get rid of any young guys right now? They have a lot of space.
