Right, so here it is:

I used to play some computergames like World of Warcraft (don't stop reading!) and Unreal Tournament. We used several programs to communicate through a microphone. That way, we could talk while using the keyboard to navigate, saving us a lot of time since we didn't have to type in chat.

Now, wouldn't it be great to use those same programs to chat together during games? I know I'd love to hear everyone go OOOOOOOOOH and AAAAAAAAH when something awesome happens.

Imagine "SHEED FOR THREEEEE!" (I know, a long-shot with his abysmal shooting, but bear with me) or whatever cry you might like.

We'd need someone to host a server (or pay for one :P) and everyone needs to get a client. They're for free, and there's lots of them out there like Ventrillo, Teamspeak, Mumble, etc.

Right, let's hear them thoughts.

  • Rondo = Good
I'm sure some people would like that but personally I find it really weird to hear the actual voices of people with whom I'm used to chatting over the internet, but who I have never actually met.

So I'm happy with the game threads.    8)

Yeah, I think while it is an idea some people might like it's not pour moi.

I've done that as well Kiorrik. I don't see why you couldn't do both for those that like sort of thing. I would be on TS AND the chat board at the same time. Host a TS server and see if their is interest.

One of my kids did/does that with his xbox. They apparently enter a gameroom but don't start playing the game (I think that's how he described it) so they can chat through their headsets. That way you have 6 or so kids sitting alone in their bedrooms watching south park, chatting and doing their homework (supposedly).

Yup, that's another way to do it :)

It's sort of like a phonecall with many people. You'll be surprised how well people await their turn to speak :D Though it's always a fact that some are louder than others ;)

Anyway, I love it! It's great to get to hear different accents as well.

This idea could be fun! I don't know if it's really within the realm of possibility since there could be a little difference between every watcher's broadcast, i.e people would comment plays before they happen on the other people's screens... and it could be negative for the game thread.

But definitely an interesting idea. :)

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I don't really participate in game threads, but wouldn't it kill the amount of posts that most of you get. God knows responses like, "that was sick!" and "RONDOOOOOO!!" are too important and need to count as a post.  ;)

No, but really, I have tried it with xbox and while it's not my thing, people would defitely be into it.
