I don't have a link yet.  Just saw an alert on CBS Sports.com

Pretty rough ride for Charlie in the college ranks.

I know I'm not the only one thinking I wouldn't mind him back as Pat's offensive coordinator at all.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
I don't know if the blame falls on Weis or ND, but either way it wasn't working and never worked.

I liked ND's old coach Ty Willingham

In big college football it's all about recruiting.

And I wouldn't worry about Weiss, since he still has 5 years left on his contract.

Agreed, they fired Willingham too quickly.  Then they gave Weis a long extension too quickly.  ND's success in Weis's first year was thanks to players Willingham recruited.  Weis has done a pretty good job recruiting too, and hopefully next season the team will click.  They're only going to take a hit on the OL where 2 or 3 starters are leaving, other than that I think the entire starting defense will be back, and the entire offense except for James Aldridge, as long as Clausen or Floyd don't leave for the NFL early.

He should have been fired two years before after his 3-9 season.

Why are they happy that everyone is returning?  The'll have the same guys who couldn't win this year.  Seriously, can you imagine the reaction of the typical ND alum about losing to UConn? That's the loss that sealed Weiss' fate and everybody knew it.

I thought the loss to Navy truly ended his chances of returning.

Because in college football you always have a high turnover rate so there's a lot of value in having a group of guys play together for more than one season, and also we're talking about kids who tend to get bigger and stronger and improve their skills each year from Freshman to Senior, compared with the pros where a player has basically showed what he can do by the time he's played a couple years.

Losing to UConn definitely sealed his fate.
